BCCN - Chapter 55

Chapter 55

Finally, Xia Yangxuan told his blind date that they weren't a good match. The woman left with a displeased expression.

Mother Xia sighed, "Alas, what a good child, just can't speak properly."

Ji Fengxue looked confused.

Xia Linxia leaned over and whispered an explanation, "She means her speech is neither fully Chinese nor fully foreign. My mom always misunderstands, thinking she's speaking dialect. Do you understand?"

Ji Fengxue replied, "Yes."

After sighing, Mother Xia cursed the "old fogeys" who arranged the meeting and then went to the kitchen to order a few more dishes that the children liked.

Xia Yangxuan took Jiang Yuan to the study. Both of them had a business-like demeanor. After they closed the door, Xia Linxia pressed herself against it to eavesdrop, but she couldn't hear anything, stamping her feet in frustration.

After a long while, Ji Fengxue couldn't stand it and went upstairs to get her. She couldn't move her.

Xia Linxia clung to the door, making frantic eye contact and faces at her, refusing to leave.

Just then, the door opened from the inside. She almost fell in and was caught by Xia Yangxuan, who asked her with a dark expression, "What are you doing?"

Seeing her secretly pinch her thigh, Ji Fengxue looked up, her eyes red, and said pitifully, "Brother~"

"Don't play coy with me." Xia Yangxuan pulled her in to lecture her. Jiang Yuan tactfully walked out.

As they went downstairs, Jiang Yuan said, "She and her brother are classmates. Surprised?"

"Just found out," Ji Fengxue also smiled.

"It's good that you know, but don't spread it around, lest people say I'm biased," Jiang Yuan said. "I value every artist the same. How far they go depends on themselves."

Ji Fengxue nodded, thinking that she deserved to be Xia Yangxuan's classmate. What kind of teacher could nurture these two cunning masterminds?

She also guessed that Xia Linxia was trying to set them up. She didn't know what it would be like when these two tyrants got together, but she knew that Xia Linxia's life would probably not be easy.

At this moment, Father Xia walked in through the main door. "I'm back. I heard Xiao Yuan and Xiao Ji are here."

Mother Xia came out of the kitchen and said impatiently, "You're always out fooling around. Go keep Xiao Yuan company. I need to talk to Xiao Ji."

Ji Fengxue was led into Mother Xia's bedroom.

"Auntie, what is this..."

"Wait a moment," Mother Xia said with a smile, opening the wardrobe door and taking out a stack of colorful notebooks. Some had locks, but they were rusty and useless. The notebooks were not dusty, indicating they were cleaned regularly.

"These are Xiao Bao's diaries," Mother Xia beckoned her over and generously said, "They're all yours."

Ji Fengxue walked over and looked down at the notebooks. The covers were labeled "Xia Linxia."

"But these are diaries..." Ji Fengxue wanted them, but this involved privacy.

"Tsk, she doesn't want them anymore," Mother Xia waved her hand indifferently. "The year she debuted, she stopped writing diaries, saying she couldn't leave behind any black history or leverage. She told me to throw them away."

Then, Mother Xia handed all this black history to her. "Don't worry, I was reluctant to throw them away before, so I told her I was keeping them for her boyfriend. She said it was fine. Who knew she'd have a girlfriend now? It's all the same. Take them. You can see how foolish she was back then, and you'll have a chance to regret it."

"I don't regret it," Ji Fengxue said.

Mother Xia was very touched. "Good child, I asked the kitchen to make Enxima."

Ji Fengxue: "..." So Enxima was passed down from you?

"Then I'll take them. What if you and Uncle want to see them?"

"Don't worry about that!" Mother Xia patted her chest proudly. "We've made several copies. Everyone in the family has one. If she has a sister-in-law in the future, we'll give her one too."

Ji Fengxue accepted them with peace of mind.

She flipped through the notebooks and found one with crooked handwriting, likely from when she was young, so she picked it up and read a few lines.

September 9th, Sunny.

It's third grade, and the teacher asked us to write diaries.

I asked Mom what a diary was. She said it's just to record your daily food, clothing, housing, and transportation.

In the morning, I ate a sandwich and milk, rode in a Maybach, and left our 300-square-meter villa. I can't remember how many steps I walked today.

October 1st, Cloudy turning to light rain, then sunny, then overcast, then heavy rain.

Today's weather is like the Big Demon King's face, changing as he pleases. I suspect he has that illness Dad often talks about – late-stage menopause.

December 7th, Rainy.

I didn't finish my homework and was spanked by the Big Demon King. I hate him.

January 2nd, Windy.

I was spanked by the Big Demon King again. I hate him.

March 3rd, Dark, don't know the weather.

I was rescued by Uncle Police.

I woke up thirsty in the middle of the night to get some water and heard the Big Demon King crying in the living room.

He's over 1.8 meters tall, and he cries so badly.

I don't hate the Big Demon King anymore. I love him.

P.S.: If he doesn't spank me anymore.

"Dinner's ready," Father Xia called from downstairs.

Ji Fengxue put down the diary and walked out with Mother Xia, just as the brother and sister emerged from the study.

Seeing the situation, Xia Linxia immediately asked, "Mom, you didn't secretly give her gold bars again, did you?"

"How could that be," Mother Xia tutted. "Did you get scolded again?"

"Hmph!" Xia Linxia stomped downstairs and sat at the dining table. After a while, someone sat down in the seat next to her.

During the meal, Jiang Yuan and Xia Yangxuan occasionally discussed company matters, like two industry bigwigs live-streaming a meeting.

Meanwhile, Ji Fengxue and Xia Linxia whispered about the matters concerning the film crew, preparing everything in detail. Xia Linxia nodded repeatedly.

Father Xia and Mother Xia sat at the main seats on either side, looking at each other and nodding frequently, very satisfied.

After dinner, the two bosses had busy schedules and returned to their companies. Ji Fengxue also felt it wasn't appropriate to stay longer and planned to leave. Xia Linxia arranged a car for her, and then heard Mother Xia calling out.

"Oh dear, Xiao Ji, you forgot to take your things," Mother Xia handed her a black plastic bag.

"Wait, what is this?" Xia Linxia raised an eyebrow and reached out to open the plastic bag. Inside was another plastic bag, and then another.

"It's really not gold bars!" Mother Xia patted her and pushed her back into the house. "It's just some local specialties. Why are you so stingy?"

Xia Linxia shouted back, "Lao Ji, if it's gold bars, remember to return them to me."

"Okay," Ji Fengxue chuckled, carrying the large bag of diaries home.

When she had nothing to do, she would read a page or two, as if seeing the clumsy little Xia Bao grow up.

But she didn't dare to read too much, only a little each day, to sustain her longing.

More than half a month later, she saw Xia Linxia at the script reading. The latter was not as idle as her, with an overwhelming number of announcements.

Once, late at night, she saw Xia Linxia post a "finished work" status on her Moments, so she replied, "Rest well."

Xia Linxia replied righteously, "Rest is for sluggards like you, and for opportunists who know how to please the elders to get gold bars."

Ji Fengxue: "..."

After not seeing each other for more than half a month, when Xia Linxia appeared before her eyes, she was a little dazed. It seemed that since they met, they had never been apart for so long.

So, she inexplicably hugged her. "Long time no see."

"Long time no see, hehe, so clingy," Xia Linxia giggled, letting her hug her, and waved to everyone in the room. "Hello everyone."

Qiu Xingzhou, unable to stand it, rolled up his script and made a gesture as if to hit her. Xia Linxia stuck out her tongue at him.

Fortunately, Ji Fengxue quickly came to her senses and, with a relaxed expression, led her to sit down and greet the surrounding creative staff.

Qiu Xingzhou reached over Xia Linxia and extended a hand. "Actress Ji, please take care of me in the future."

"You're welcome," Ji Fengxue politely shook his hand.

Xia Linxia pouted and slapped down, separating their hands.

"Look at you being so jealous," Qiu Xingzhou retracted his hand in pain.

"You're the one who's jealous. Your whole family is jealous," Xia Linxia said unhappily.

"Oh, so lively," Director Chen Lianjie walked in with a smile, sat in the main seat, looked around, and said, "Everyone is here. Let's start with introductions. We'll be spending the next two months together."

Starting with the actors, and then all the department heads introduced themselves. Chen Lianjie went straight to the point. "Let's run through the lines first. The filming and prop departments, please raise any issues you have."

Ji Fengxue was used to it. After fluently reciting her lines, the next line was Xia Linxia's, and she suddenly became nervous.

Although script readings don't involve fully acting out the emotions, many people just read their lines. The main purpose is for everyone to find any logical bugs and offer better suggestions.

She couldn't help but look at Xia Linxia. She hadn't felt this kind of nervousness in a long time.

Xia Linxia opened her mouth and recited the first line.

Ji Fengxue secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

A moment later, Chen Lianjie smiled. "Not bad. As expected of someone who studied music, you've grasped the rhythm of the lines well."

Xia Linxia chuckled and then winked at Ji Fengxue, whispering, "It's all thanks to Teacher Ji's good teaching."

"Are there any rewards?" she asked.

"What do you want?"

Ji Fengxue blurted out, "Give me your autograph."

"Okay."

"I want a signed dedication."

Xia Linxia couldn't help but ask, "What are you going to do with my autograph?"

Ji Fengxue thought seriously. "To ward off evil."

Xia Linxia pouted and tore off a piece of paper, signing it.

To: Little Snowflake.

—Balala energy, become ugly!

Ji Fengxue took it, looked at it carefully, folded it neatly, and put it in her bag.

Xia Linxia: "..."

Ji Fengxue smiled to herself, recalling the diary she had accidentally glanced at last night.

April 9th, Sunny.

A feng shui master said there was resentment in the house, which is why I suffered such a disaster.

I really believe his nonsense. Isn't it just getting second place?

If being a feng shui master is so easy, then I can do it too. From now on, I'll specialize in sending talismans to ward off evil to naive girls.

I've even thought of the incantation—Balala energy!
