Chapter 74
Qiu Chi proactively sealed her memories before entering the small world. The system didn't understand this move and could only stay mum.
Since her memories were sealed, Qiu Chi naturally didn't ask for the plot of the small world.
As for following the original plot?
The system felt lucky it hadn't been dismantled. What the hell did the plot matter? Hadn't it seen that even the Main System had bailed?
Perhaps because she had sealed her own memories, Qiu Chi remained perfectly calm, even after arriving in a strange world with only someone else's memories in her mind.
She calmly got up, ate, and slung her schoolbag over her shoulder to go to school.
Qiu Chi arrived at school early, when there were only a dozen or so people in the classroom.
After she sat down, the female classmate in front of her, who was frantically catching up on homework, turned around and whispered, "Hey, Jiang Youyou, have you heard? We're getting a transfer student today. I heard he's super handsome."
The male classmate in front of her also turned around. "We're about to start our senior year, and we're still getting a transfer student?"
"I don't know about that. I just heard it from someone else. Hey, Jiang Youyou, did you finish your math homework? Let me see it."
Qiu Chi silently handed over her math homework.
Jiang Youyou's grades were average, but having homework to copy was better than nothing. The girl wasn't picky. She immediately began to write furiously, no longer interested in gossip.
After a short while, students trickled into the classroom. Qiu Chi was flipping through a book. To her, the material was very easy. Once she finished, she had nothing else to do, so she just closed her eyes and feigned sleep.
Qiu Chi opened her eyes when the bell rang.
By now, all the students had arrived. Only the seat next to Qiu Chi was empty.
Since the teacher hadn't arrived yet, the girl in front glanced over enviously. "That supposedly super-handsome transfer student is definitely going to sit with you. I'm so jealous."
Qiu Chi: "..."
The girl didn't say anything else. She quickly sat up straight, craning her neck to look out the window.
The classroom door was pushed open. Even after the homeroom teacher entered, the students' gazes remained fixed on the doorway.
"Come in and introduce yourself to everyone."
The moment the boy walked in, the previously quiet classroom erupted with excitement, completely ignoring the teacher's presence.
The classroom only quieted down after the homeroom teacher yelled.
The transfer student was indeed handsome, with a lazy, unruly air about him. He looked like a bad boy at first glance.
Being stared at so intently by the entire class, he lifted his eyes, frowned with a hint of impatience, and said perfunctorily, "I'm Yu Xiao."
Yet, his attitude only made everyone more excited.
The homeroom teacher said with a stern expression, "Alright, quiet down. Yu Xiao, you can sit next to Jiang Youyou. It's the only empty seat for now. We'll rearrange the seating in a few days."
Yu Xiao sat down next to Qiu Chi. He glanced at her and saw her resting her chin on her hand, staring blankly into space, seemingly completely uninterested in his arrival. He found this quite interesting.
After settling Yu Xiao in, the homeroom teacher left. The first class of the day was math.
The moment the homeroom teacher left, the whispering in the classroom grew louder.
Many of the girls were secretly sneaking glances at Yu Xiao.
In contrast, the zoned-out Qiu Chi intrigued Yu Xiao even more.
He extended a hand to greet her. "Hello, deskmate. Let's get along."
Qiu Chi glanced at Yu Xiao's hand, then turned her gaze to the front of the classroom.
Just then, the math teacher walked in. The whispering instantly died down, leaving Yu Xiao, with his hand still extended, in a rather awkward position.
He retracted his hand without a change in expression, shot Qiu Chi a look, and then slumped onto his desk to sleep.
He slept for the entire morning. The teachers seemed not to see him, ignoring him completely.
During breaks, plenty of people talked about him, but no one actually went up to say hello.
As for Qiu Chi, she spent the whole time staring into space.
It was only during a break, when the girl in front gave her a lollipop and asked her to come outside, that Qiu Chi—for the lollipop's sake—bothered to go out and listen to her gossip.
"Do you know why he transferred? And why the teachers pretend not to see him sleeping in class?"
"No idea."
"Hehe, I found out everything. I heard his family is super rich. Apparently, he got into some trouble at his old school and came here to lie low. His family even donated a building to our school."
Qiu Chi raised an eyebrow, surprised. "You managed to find all that out?"
The girl scratched her head, looking a little embarrassed. "Well, I don't know for sure. I just heard it from other people. But it's definitely true his family is rich. Look at his clothes—all designer brands. He even said hi to you first. Why didn't you answer him?"
"It was class time. I didn't feel like it."
"If it were me, I definitely would've grabbed his hand, hehehe..."
