Chapter 78
The class bell rang, and Yu Xiao was seething with anger.
He desperately wanted to demand what Qiu Chi had meant by her last remark. What did she mean he wasn't worthy of being compared to them? How was he unworthy?
Indignant, he scribbled a line in his notebook and pushed it in front of Qiu Chi, but she was just staring blankly at the podium, not giving him a single glance.
Yu Xiao had no choice but to wait for the teacher to turn away before waving the notebook in front of Qiu Chi's face. He actually wanted to get more physical, but he figured her temper wasn't the best, so he dismissed the thought.
Qiu Chi did react, but only by shooting him a displeased look and shaking a fist at him before resuming her daze.
Yu Xiao was speechless. With that tiny fist of yours, you really think I'm scared?
Though he scoffed internally, he behaved himself on the surface, frowning as he began to devise another plan.
No matter how bad her temper was, she was still just a girl. He refused to believe he couldn't handle her.
While Yu Xiao was busy devising other plans, a few days passed peacefully for Qiu Chi.
Then, on Saturday afternoon after school let out, Qiu Chi was cornered by a group of young punks.
This encounter was actually a bit novel for Qiu Chi. "Is there a problem?"
"Hey, pretty girl, your big brothers are a little tight on cash. How about you help us out?"
"Oh, a robbery. I thought someone had hired you."
The punks, who had indeed been hired, were speechless.
"Cut the crap and stop wasting time. Either hand over your money, or come have some fun with us."
Qiu Chi tilted her head and glanced around.
Secluded, no security cameras. It was indeed a good spot—the good spot she had chosen.
Seeing her movement, they sneered. "Don't even think about calling for help. It's useless. Either give us the money or have some fun with us. You choose."
"I choose to beat you all up."
The moment the words left her mouth, Qiu Chi tossed her schoolbag aside, clenched her fists, and charged forward.
Yu Xiao, who had just rushed out shouting, "Stop!" was stunned.
Qiu Chi, a single girl, was fighting several of them, yet the punks were completely powerless to fight back.
Sure, these punks were total losers, but that didn't mean a young girl should be able to thrash them so easily!
At that moment, Yu Xiao began to question his entire existence.
By the time he snapped out of it and thought about stepping in to help, the punks were already lying on the ground, unable to get back up.
He swallowed hard. "Are... are you okay?"
Qiu Chi shot him a look that was not quite a smile, then punched him too.
Yu Xiao, who had never been hit in his life, instantly flew into a rage. "Jiang Youyou, do you have any idea what you're doing?!"
Qiu Chi said calmly, "Of course. I'm beating you up."
"Are you crazy? I came to help you, and you hit me?"
"Help me?" Qiu Chi sneered. "Did you really think I didn't know you hired these guys?"
"It's one thing for you to be obsessed with me, but to resort to such disgusting tactics? You're just asking for a beating."
"Did I ignore you for a few days and you got cocky? Did you start thinking you were hot stuff?"
Yu Xiao's supposedly secret plans had not escaped Qiu Chi's notice at all.
The moment the punks appeared, she knew Yu Xiao was hiding nearby.
She had come to this spot intentionally, for the sole purpose of giving someone a beating.
Soon, Yu Xiao looked no different from the punks on the ground. Only then did Qiu Chi stop. She looked down at his bruised and swollen face. "Next time something like this happens, it won't be as simple as a beating."
With that, Qiu Chi picked up her schoolbag, dusted it off, and strode away.
The punks on the ground looked over at Yu Xiao and whined, "This really isn't our fault! A woman that tough... even with a few more guys, we couldn't have handled her! We're all seriously injured. You have to pay us more!"
Yu Xiao struggled to his feet and snorted coldly. "You'll get what's yours... Hiss..."
