BBQT - Chapter 91

Chapter 91

The idea behind Qiu Chi’s silence had come to her suddenly, and she hadn’t given it much thought. After all, she genuinely believed she was perfectly capable of destroying a world on her own.

But to Lou Yu, Qiu Chi’s silence meant something else entirely.

In that instant, his eyes lit up. “Is she still in there? Can’t she bring herself to hurt me? Does she still love me?”

Qiu Chi was rendered speechless by Lou Yu’s barrage of questions.

“What kind of daydream are you having?”

“I’m not killing you because I want to torture you. Wouldn’t killing you be letting you off too easy? How am I supposed to vent my anger if I don’t torture you properly?”

“Still love you? Do you remember what you did? Stop daydreaming.”

Qiu Chi beat Lou Yu half to death again before putting away her whip and riding off at a leisurely pace.

Lying on the ground, Lou Yu thought back on his past with Shangguan Yue and muttered, “Yue'er, rest assured, I will drive that wandering spirit from your body.”

Qiu Chi reined in her horse and returned to Lou Yu’s side. “Unfortunately for you, I heard that. A wandering spirit? I take it you haven’t been beaten enough?”

Qiu Chi took out her whip again. “I’ve suddenly decided that beating you half to death is too boring. What if I just beat you until you’re barely breathing, keeping you hanging on by a thread so you can’t die?”

“Being a frail, sickly young master would be quite nice, wouldn’t it?”

Lou Yu fell silent again.

He just stared at Qiu Chi with his dark eyes.

Qiu Chi’s first instinct was to lash him right across the eyes with her whip.

But then she saw the nearly faded scar on his face, and a new interest sparked within her.

“Your face was originally quite handsome, and this scar doesn’t really detract from your looks. I’m just a bit curious… if you were disfigured, would all those admirers of yours start to despise you?”

Lou Yu might not have cared whether his admirers would despise him, but Qiu Chi was far too curious to let it go.

In Shangguan Yue’s memories, Lou Yu was very popular.

It wasn’t just Lu Yuan; many of the female disciples from the two sects involved in the Shangguan family’s massacre were quite fond of him.

But back then, Shangguan Yue was the young lady of the Shangguan family, and Lou Yu was an apprentice there. Even if those girls liked him, they couldn’t be too open about it.

Now that the Shangguan family was gone, they would naturally no longer hide their affections when they saw him. But what if he were disfigured?

No sooner had she thought of it than she acted.

She dismounted, took out a dagger, and squatted down in front of Lou Yu.

“I’m about to carve a few lines into your face. Are you looking forward to it?”

“This is a chance to see if they truly love you. If someone doesn’t despise you for being disfigured, why not just go with her? After all, she’d be so sincere.”

“Then again, someone like you shouldn’t go around ruining other people’s lives.”

“Remember to watch for their initial reaction.”

With each sentence, Qiu Chi carved another line into Lou Yu’s face.

Lou Yu had intended to keep staring at Qiu Chi.

But Qiu Chi held the bloody dagger right above his eyes.

The second before a drop of blood fell into them, he squeezed his eyes shut. Only then did Qiu Chi continue her work.

“Since I’ve ruined your face this time, I won’t beat you to within an inch of your life.”

“And remember, don’t you dare speak ill of me behind my back. It’s fine if I don’t hear it. But if I do, the consequences will be dire.”

Qiu Chi didn’t render Lou Yu completely unrecognizable; at the very least, one could still tell it was him.

She tossed the blood-soaked dagger onto his body in disgust, then mounted her horse and left.

This time, Lou Yu remained quiet.

Or perhaps it was because he had lost so much blood that his consciousness was fading, and he was about to pass out.

In truth, Qiu Chi hadn’t left for good. After all, she still wanted to observe how Lou Yu’s admirers would react once they saw his disfigured face.

However, she didn’t stay too close. She simply kept an eye on him as she continued her leisurely travels.

Lou Yu lay there for a long time after Qiu Chi left. Finally, with a trembling hand, he took out a signal flare to call for help.

Someone came for him shortly after.

Seeing Lou Yu’s wretched state, they rushed forward. “Master, who did this to you?”

Lou Yu ignored them, his voice hoarse. “Prepare a carriage. I’m going to the Fuyun Sect.”

“But Master, your injuries…?”

“As long as I don’t die, it’s fine.”

They didn’t dare disobey Lou Yu’s command, so they had no choice but to comply.

Just before Lou Yu boarded the carriage, one of them reported, “Master, Ru Niang heard you were injured and insisted on coming. We couldn’t stop her. She’s already on her way.”

“Master, Ru Niang is a brilliant physician. Your injuries are so severe, her presence will help you recover much faster. If you must blame someone, please blame us.”

Lou Yu boarded the carriage, and the atmosphere fell silent.

Just as the two men outside were growing anxious, Lou Yu finally spoke. “Go back and receive your punishment.”

“Yes.”

“Ru Niang? A brilliant physician? That’s good. This way, I won’t have to worry about his frail body giving out and him accidentally dying from a beating.”

After hearing this, however, Qiu Chi felt there was no longer any need to follow him.

This Ru Niang was clearly hopelessly infatuated with Lou Yu. She was the type who, even if he were to kill her, would probably worry that her blood might stain his clothes.

Qiu Chi decided to head back.

She would come out again in a month or so.

In any case, whenever she came out, Lou Yu was guaranteed to receive a vicious beating.

It wouldn’t matter how many schemes or plots Lou Yu came up with; Qiu Chi had faith in her own strength.
