Chapter 107

But what kind of person was Xi Li?

He was someone who would kill the female immortals who admired him just to save face. How could he possibly let Su Qin stay now because of her phony act?

His tone was still indifferent, but he was, in fact, growing impatient. “This Venerable One does not require anyone to wait on him. If you have any questions, you may come and ask when this Venerable One has time.”

After speaking, Xi Li didn’t give Su Qin a chance to respond. He immediately dispelled the barrier and randomly called over one of the immortals from the crowd of gossiping onlookers, telling him to arrange accommodations for Su Qin.

When the summoned immortal took down his own barrier, Su Qin’s expression soured.

She hadn’t realized so many immortals were watching her make a fool of herself. Just how many of them had witnessed her pathetic display?

Su Qin bit her lip, feeling utterly humiliated.

Blame Xi Li? She didn’t dare. She could only blame Qiu Chi.

As she was being led to her new residence, Su Qin couldn’t help but ask, “Just now, did you all see that?”

The immortal guiding her had been dying of curiosity about what had happened inside the barrier. Now that Su Qin had initiated conversation, he immediately replied, “No, the War God set up a barrier, so we couldn’t see or hear anything. What happened in there? Did the War God reprimand Lingling?”

“Lingling, is that the fairy on the wall?”

“Yes, yes, that’s her. Did the War God reprimand her?”

Knowing that the other immortals hadn’t seen her embarrassing performance, Su Qin breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, her animosity toward Qiu Chi, who had seen everything, grew even stronger.

Since this immortal was asking, she lowered her eyes and said hesitantly, “The War God… I wouldn’t say he reprimanded her, exactly. What is their relationship? How can she be so…”

This tactic of leaving her sentence half-finished worked wonders. “So arrogant, right? It’s only because the War God indulges her. She used to be his maid, and he doted on her. But he kicked her out recently. To still act so arrogantly after being thrown out, she really doesn’t know what’s good for her.”

The immortal Xi Li had randomly chosen just so happened to be a male admirer of his, one who was extremely displeased with Qiu Chi, or rather, Lingling.

Now, before Su Qin had even properly asked, he had spilled everything in one go.

Hearing his words, Su Qin’s resentment for Qiu Chi deepened.

She was certain that the reason Xi Li wouldn’t let her stay in the War God Manor was because of something Qiu Chi had done previously to anger him, and she was just caught in the crossfire.

With two people who disliked Qiu Chi brought together, their conversation was naturally quite pleasant. They even agreed to have him show Su Qin around the Immortal Realm later.

Meanwhile, on Qiu Chi’s side, after Su Qin was led away, some of the other immortals left on their own, while others wanted to stay and see what would happen between Xi Li and Qiu Chi.

But Xi Li put the barrier back up.

He looked at the leisurely Qiu Chi and said, “I will keep them in line and not let them bother you again. Let’s stay out of each other’s way.”

Qiu Chi, cracking melon seeds, replied, “Stay out of each other’s way? Do you think that’s possible?”

Xi Li wasn’t sure what Qiu Chi knew, so he could only probe. “We don’t have any real grievances between us, do we? It’s true I was negligent when they bullied you before. It certainly won’t happen again.”

This time, Qiu Chi didn’t toss her trash into his manor; she threw it directly at him. “So you think that’s all there is to it?”

Xi Li looked at the melon seed shells on his robes, suppressing his anger as he feigned innocence. “Besides that, what else is there?”

Qiu Chi had no desire to play guessing games with him and got straight to the point. “For example, the matter of that demoness from the Demon Realm looking for you. Aren’t you going to tell the Heavenly Emperor that I might be a clone of the Demon Realm’s Elder Lingling?”

Xi Li stared at the melon seed shells. He heard himself say, “You said it yourself, it’s a possibility. Since it’s not certain, I naturally wouldn’t report it.”

After a pause, he added, “However, that is indeed why I kicked you out. After all, I am the War God. Even if it’s just a possibility, I couldn’t keep you. But I wasn’t targeting you. If I were, I could have just told the Heavenly Emperor your identity. Better to kill the wrong person than to let one go. But I didn’t.”

Qiu Chi let out a disdainful “tsk.” “Keep acting. Let’s see how far you can take this.”

Xi Li’s words were remarkably similar to the speech he had used to trick the original Lingling into going to the Demon Realm to fight her original self for control of her consciousness.

Xi Li looked up at Qiu Chi, his eyes full of sincerity. “Everything I’ve said is true. No matter how you misunderstand me, I never wanted to harm you.”

Qiu Chi: “Gag~”
