Chapter 169
Qiu Chi’s interest was piqued the moment Fang Caiyue and Nie Yaya arrived at the hotel.
She felt that the shelf life of Fang Caiyue and Nie Zhicheng’s love was probably not going to last much longer.
The man who had meddled the other day was quite handsome, no worse than Nie Zhicheng. Although Qiu Chi had lashed him a few times with her whip, she hadn’t hit his face, so he wasn’t disfigured and his good looks were unaffected.
It was one thing for Fang Caiyue to show up, but for the restless Nie Yaya to tag along as well made things even more interesting.
Watching Nie Yaya, who appeared quiet and well-behaved on the surface but whose eyes boldly sized up the man, Qiu Chi couldn’t help but let out a “tsk.”
The so-called love between Fang Caiyue and Nie Zhicheng was unreliable to begin with. At first, they could indulge in romantic dalliances because Nie Zhicheng was wealthy. The presence of Zhai Jiayue as a roadblock, ironically, only strengthened their bond.
But later, after Zhai Jiayue and Nie Zhicheng divorced and they finally got together, their love didn’t seem so profound anymore. By the time Zhai Jiayue died in the original story, Nie Zhicheng and Fang Caiyue had already started fighting about divorce.
Now, Qiu Chi was no longer acting as a catalyst for their relationship. In fact, she had directly caused the Nie family’s liquid assets to be nearly depleted. Combined with the beating, the flame of their love was likely to extinguish even faster.
If Nie Yaya hadn’t come, that man would probably have been Fang Caiyue’s next partner.
But now that Nie Yaya was here, and seeing the look on her face, it was obvious she had some interest in the man herself.
So, whether the cliché drama of two women fighting over one man would occur next all depended on how thick-skinned Fang Caiyue was.
Qiu Chi, who had originally planned to move out and find Zhai Jiayue’s savior, decided to stay and watch the show after seeing Fang Caiyue and Nie Yaya appear today. She would look for the person later.
As for the man, he had also been planning to move to a different place. After all, the beating from Qiu Chi had been utterly humiliating, and he couldn’t bear the loss of face.
But ever since Fang Caiyue arrived, he had dismissed the idea of moving.
It wasn’t that he had fallen for anyone, but rather that he found these two women, Fang Caiyue and Nie Yaya, incredibly interesting.
When the two of them came to find him, Fang Caiyue said she had personally made some pastries to thank him for his help that day. When he first heard her words, he felt embarrassed.
But then Nie Yaya, who was beside Fang Caiyue, also presented some pastries and said, “Mr. Zhou, you’re too kind. You helped my brother and sister-in-law, so it’s only right that we thank you. It’s just that my father has confined my brother to the house these past few days, so I could only come with my sister-in-law to thank you.”
“I also brought some pastries. This shop is a time-honored brand; I heard their ancestors even included an imperial chef. You should try them, they’re delicious.”
Before Mr. Zhou could reply, Fang Caiyue interjected, “Yaya, don’t just call me that. Ah Cheng and I aren’t married yet. You can just call me Caiyue.”
“Oh, sister-in-law, why be so modest? My brother loves you so much, it’s only a matter of time before you two get married. You’re the only sister-in-law I’ll ever acknowledge!”
Although Fang Caiyue looked shy, she still insisted, “Stop teasing. You should still call me Caiyue.”
Mr. Zhou was no fool. On the contrary, he was quite clever, though he sometimes possessed certain common male flaws—a soft spot for beautiful women, a penchant for philandering, a concern for his pride, and a touch of male chauvinism.
However, his flaws didn’t prevent him from seeing what these two women were up to.
Nie Yaya and Fang Caiyue might have thought they were being clever, but to a businessman like Mr. Zhou, who had seen his fair share of women, their little schemes were ridiculously easy to see through.
He had originally wanted to send them away quickly, but after discerning their intentions, he didn’t mind playing along with them one bit.
While Fang Caiyue and Nie Yaya weren’t great beauties, they were certainly pretty. The fact that both of them were interested in him greatly satisfied his male ego.
Thus, he began to pretend he knew nothing, skillfully navigating between the two of them.
Qiu Chi was truly enjoying a spectacular show.
Nie Zhicheng was currently confined at home and couldn’t go out. Fang Caiyue wanted to visit him, but besides Nie Yaya, the rest of the Nie family guarded against her as if she were a plague. She simply couldn’t see Nie Zhicheng.
Unable to see Nie Zhicheng, and with Mr. Zhou having helped her, she began to interact with him more frequently, often bringing him food she had made herself.
Nie Yaya, on the other hand, was much more direct than Fang Caiyue.
The Nie family was rich, after all. Even if Qiu Chi had taken most of their money, a starved camel is still bigger than a horse, and the Nie family was far from dead. So, whenever Nie Yaya brought things for Mr. Zhou, she always bought them.
Mr. Zhou, it could be said, turned no one away.
Not that he accepted everything they brought, but he welcomed their attentive attitudes.
Fang Caiyue and Nie Zhicheng were still a couple, so she was more reserved when speaking with Mr. Zhou.
Nie Yaya, having spent a few days with Fang Caiyue, had naturally heard her say that when you like someone, you shouldn’t be shy but pursue them boldly and directly, because they were women of a new era.
With her naturally outgoing personality, pursuing someone came easily to Nie Yaya.
Coupled with Mr. Zhou’s willingness to play along, the two of them got together very quickly.
However, even after getting together with Nie Yaya, Mr. Zhou did not distance himself from Fang Caiyue. On one occasion, after the two had been drinking, the ambiguous atmosphere between them escalated dramatically.
Qiu Chi had been watching this play out for nearly ten days. Now that it had reached this point, how could she not stir up some trouble?
She placed a seal on their room to prevent them from leaving while she went to fetch people, then concealed her form and sped toward the place where Nie Yaya and the others were currently staying.
Then, she simply knocked Nie Yaya and Nie Zhicheng unconscious and brought them to the hotel.
The whole process took only a few minutes. Back in the room, the pair had just embraced and were about to kiss, so they naturally hadn't come out.
Qiu Chi waited until they were kissing passionately, seemingly unable to part, before she released the seal on the door. She woke Nie Zhicheng and Nie Yaya up, then swiftly kicked the door open.
She remained invisible the entire time.
As a result, when Nie Zhicheng and Nie Yaya came to their senses, they saw Mr. Zhou and Fang Caiyue locked in an embrace, their lips having just separated at the sound.
And when Mr. Zhou and Fang Caiyue looked toward the door after hearing it being kicked open, they naturally saw only Nie Zhicheng and Nie Yaya.
The culprit, Qiu Chi, retreated into the shadows, her work done, eagerly anticipating the dramatic showdown that was about to unfold.
Compared to Mr. Zhou, who was only momentarily stunned before regaining his composure, Fang Caiyue was in a complete panic.
After coming back to her senses, she hurriedly pushed Mr. Zhou away, wiped her mouth, and tried to explain to Nie Zhicheng, “Ah Cheng, what are you doing here? I was just… I was just drunk. What you just saw isn’t what it looks like…”
Nie Zhicheng just stared at Fang Caiyue with a profound gaze, saying nothing.
Nie Yaya, however, couldn’t hold back. She strode forward and slapped Fang Caiyue twice across the face, absolutely furious. “Fang Caiyue, and I thought of you as my sister-in-law! Is this how you treat me, how you treat my brother? Zhou Mingsheng is mine! You bitch!”
