Chapter 17: AV Star Factory (1)
"Over the next four days, you will form six one-on-one pairs and complete four assessments. The assessments will be scored by a hundred people, and the last-place pair in each round will be eliminated. Only the final two winning pairs—four people—will formally sign contracts to become AV actors."
The black-clad man at the front introduced the rules coldly. His tone held no particular inflection when he said "eliminated," yet the word crashed onto the twelve players' ears with the weight of a thousand pounds.
The black-clad man had just said that the eliminated would be thrown to the dogs. In reality, that might be a joke. But inside a game instance, of course, it was meant literally…
According to the rules, only four people would remain in the end—meaning only those four could clear the instance.
This was clearly just a one-star instance, yet the survival rate was so low!
The twelve players' relaxed mood after seeing the one-star difficulty rating instantly vanished.
The black-clad man spoke again: "The good news is, you can form pairs freely. We'll take you to the rest area now. Those who choose to stay in the same room will become a pair." After speaking, he turned and walked toward the passageway.
The players followed, each preoccupied with their own thoughts.
Ji Ning had no priority privilege, putting her at a great disadvantage in forming a pair.
In this instance, the quality of one's pair directly determined whether one advanced or was eliminated. It required utmost deliberation.
Those without priority privilege were in a passive position. Ji Ning noticed quite a few male players casting glances her way, which only deepened her unease.
What's more, Player No. 8 even walked up behind Ji Ning and whispered to her, "I'm huge. Team up with me, and I'll carry you to victory."
No. 8 was a Villager, with higher priority privilege than the wolves.
His deliberately lowered voice made Ji Ning's skin crawl. She quickened her pace forward, not responding to him.
Led by the black-clad man, the players arrived at the second floor of the factory building. The area was all reinforced concrete, but the rooms left for players to rest in had been painted in soft macaron colors. The doors in those delicate hues looked extremely bizarre against the concrete walls.
Because Song Weiyang, as the Seer, had delivered a Wolf Check on a wolf in the previous Werewolf game and earned the highest score, the weighting of his priority privilege was the highest.
A black-clad NPC pointed at Song Weiyang: "You. You choose first."
Song Weiyang was fair-skinned, handsome, and leanly muscular, looking like an athletic male student around eighteen or nineteen. Among the six male players, he was the most dazzling presence. Moreover, with his red lips, white teeth, and a dimple on one side, his smile was captivating, making him the natural first choice for a pairing in the female players' minds.
Ji Ning hoped he would choose her, too.
Although Player No. 8 was also quite handsome, his confidence was greasy and made Ji Ning uncomfortable. Song Weiyang seemed far more refreshing in comparison.
Female players inwardly prayed, while male players silently wished Song Weiyang wouldn't pick the person they wanted.
Under the intensely focused gaze of everyone present, Song Weiyang walked straight up to Ji Ning.
"Big sister, want to team up with me?" Song Weiyang extended his hand toward Ji Ning.
Of these two, one was the optimal choice in the female players' minds, and the other was the optimal choice in the male players' minds. When everyone saw Ji Ning place her hand into Song Weiyang's palm, their hearts all shattered.
After the successful hand-holding, Song Weiyang led Ji Ning toward the rooms: "Big sister, which color door do you like?"
Ji Ning scanned the six doors' colors and thought the soft yellow one wasn't bad: "The yellow one."
"Yellow is good." Song Weiyang's lips curved upward. "I like yellow, too."
Ji Ning glanced at Song Weiyang. Though his eyes held a very innocent smile, Ji Ning felt that the "yellow" he spoke of and the "yellow" she spoke of were not the same thing at all.
