Chapter 61: Trouble
The bed curtains above her head seemed to waver with phantom shadows. Song Hemei's hands clutched his lapels tightly, hoping to obstruct Yu Yeqing, afraid that he would continue downward.
Fortunately, he only paused for a single moment before propping himself up, looking down at her from above. His deep, murky eyes reflected her silhouette, making it impossible for her to suppress her shame.
And of all things, Yu Yeqing had to ask her seriously, "May I?"
She nodded with finality, shifting slightly to draw her knees back a little more, making it easier for him.
His lips sealed hers again. His hand brushed over her gently, she couldn't tell if it was to soothe or to seduce. Song Hemei closed her eyes, which made every sensation on her body exceptionally clear.
She could feel him pressing against her, but a layer of fabric still separated them.
Her mind immediately turned to the thought: His clothes will be soaked this time too—where can I find men's clothing for him?
And in the next instant, he released her lips, leaned close to her neck, and whispered in her ear, "If you would be so kind, help me undo this."
Song Hemei choked on a breath.
Should she compliment him on his propriety?
She had no choice. Her hand reached into the bedding to untie the knot at his waist, her knuckles unavoidably brushing against his firm abdomen.
She said indignantly, "I've stripped myself clean over here, but you're all neatly dressed—what use is that? Just adds trouble."
She wanted to say more, but as he kissed her neck, with no barrier left, he entered her directly—slowly and gently—cutting off her words. She instinctively held her breath.
"I hadn't originally planned for this," Yu Yeqing explained by her ear, then stroked her and murmured, "Relax."
Song Hemei felt he said this with absolutely no sincerity. Since it was already happening, what did it matter whether he had planned it or not?
Yu Yeqing lowered himself, taking the opportunity to hold her close. She immediately raised her arms to wrap around his waist, gripping his lapels tightly, breathing in small gasps as he moved.
"I'm already trying my best. How else do you want me to relax?"
Yu Yeqing was silent for a moment. "I think you might finish quickly."
Fortunately, they were neck-to-neck, so she didn't have to worry about him detecting the burning heat on her neck and cheeks. She answered stubbornly, "I will not. You're not allowed to randomly think things anymore."
Yu Yeqing said no more. He focused on one thing only, starting gradually, moving deeper by degrees.
Compared to this moment, last night had been merely a warm-up. Her sensations were far more intense. Her floating, drifting thoughts refused to be reined in no matter how hard she tried. His low, pleasing breaths mingled with the rustling of the bedding and the clear, trickling sound of a mountain stream, making her hold him tighter and tighter.
He grew more skillful, targeting all the worst places. But she had already spoken, and even on the verge, she had to endure.
The effort was excruciating. The more she held back, the more this feeling seemed to accumulate, pooling within her until her vision blurred. She forced out a few words from her throat, "You're doing this on purpose."
Yu Yeqing seemed puzzled. "What?"
Song Hemei didn't know if the uncontrollable trembling she was experiencing would let him sense her imminent loss of composure, but it still made her face burn with shame. Driven to the edge, her tone turned resentful. "Pretending you don't understand. You're doing this on purpose."
She felt her eyes grow moist, her nose tingling. She wasn't trying to cry, nor was she feeling wronged—it was more like an instinctive reaction brought on by the sensation.
She thought this was utterly pathetic and embarrassing. They were both in this together, yet only she was being provoked to the point of tears. How could he be completely unaffected?
Song Hemei mustered her focus and lifted her head slightly, afraid that a tear rolling from the corner of her eye might fall onto his neck and be discovered. Then she freed one hand from his waist and grabbed a corner of the blanket to wipe her tears.
She was already swaying, and her hand pulling at the blanket unavoidably brushed against his neck, which he immediately noticed.
Yu Yeqing stiffened. He turned his head to look at her and saw her reddened eye rims. In that instant, his heart ached.
Song Hemei tried to evade his gaze, but it was too late. He had already lifted his hand, his thumb brushing away the lingering tears at the corner of her eye—a very gentle motion, merely wiping the tears away. "You can refuse."
From the very beginning, he had left her an opportunity to refuse.
Song Hemei was confused, not understanding what he meant by refusing.
But he had already lowered his eyes, suppressing the desire and instinct that had built up, forcibly stopping.
She suddenly felt a plummeting sensation. All the previous feelings now backlashed, subjecting her to an unbearable torment that was even harder to endure than before the start.
She felt that Yu Yeqing at this moment must be feeling the same as her, because she saw the veins standing out on his forehead and neck. This disrupted his usual detachment, leaving only the lurking frenzy struggling to break free from his restraint.
Song Hemei's mind buzzed. As she felt him about to withdraw completely, she hurriedly grabbed his waist and pulled him back.
Because her movement was too sudden and uncontrolled, she let out an involuntary muffled groan and nearly lost to herself. After catching her breath for a moment, she said, "What are you doing?!"
She couldn't figure out what he was trying to achieve. Hurting the enemy and hurting himself—which was eight hundred and which was one thousand? Was he this ruthless even with himself?
Yu Yeqing's hand clutching the soft pillow tightened abruptly because of her. His voice hoarse, he said, "If you don't want this, you can refuse or stop."
Song Hemei truly didn't understand how he could think that way. She was so angry she laughed. "When did I ever say that? Even if I truly didn't want it, at this point, how can we just stop on a whim?"
Even though her actions were already hinting for him to continue, Yu Yeqing still didn't move. He just stared at her. "What are you crying about?"
Song Hemei closed her eyes in despair. She reached up to caress his cheek and pushed his head away, even sacrificing the main thing to save the minor—guiding him toward her neck. "I'm not. You're mistaken."
Yu Yeqing inexplicably grew stubborn. "You are."
Song Hemei got anxious. "If you don't understand, then don't ask random questions. Just hurry up and stop worrying about whether I want this or not. Do you think just anyone can enter my room?"
Clearly, it was he who had deliberately seduced her, and she had yielded to him. Now he was making it sound as though any random person could do this with her.
Fortunately, Yu Yeqing didn't press further. Whatever had convinced him, he responded with a low "Mm" by her ear and then continued.
The numbing pleasure spread anew. After maintaining it for a while, she realized she no longer needed to hold back.
She relaxed, intending to follow him. She heard what seemed like a sound of air rushing in her ears, over and over, as though she were being pushed higher and higher.
But suddenly, a cry of "Mother" reached her ears, followed immediately by a maid's admonishing voice.
Song Hemei sensed trouble. In the next instant, there was a light knock on the door, and then a muffled voice: "Mother, I want Mother—"
