Striking the Errant Chord - Chapter 83

Chapter 83: Knowing Her Through and Through

"I think you're pretty good..."

Song Hemei felt as if a layer of mist were before her eyes; Yu Yeqing's words reached her ears but were not quite clear.

She looked down at the man before her, her tone tinged with a dazed confusion as she asked, "What do you mean?"

Yu Yeqing paused for a moment, then raised his hand to stroke the top of her head, and with physical effort, he sank his hips back down. The surging sensation that followed was accompanied by her clearly feeling his hand bump against the headboard.

He withdrew halfway again in that lingering, reluctant manner, his hand gathering at her waist. "Come down."

Song Hemei closed her eyes in annoyance, but could only comply, moving downward to meet him, inch by inch... colliding with him fully.

That single motion made her body instinctively tense, her arms wrapping around his neck as she pressed her head against his chest.

Yu Yeqing paused, letting out a rare, soft laugh, then resumed moving slowly and gently, still observing her reactions.

Every increase and decrease in pace and force was dictated by her responses, until she no longer curled into his arms from uneven breathing. He lightly kissed her ear, then moved inch by inch down her neck, lingering to soothe her.

His hoarse voice emerged: "Your bed is very narrow."

Song Hemei didn't understand how he could still have the mind to talk during such an act.

She swayed with his movements, her hands slipping down to grip his shoulders. After catching her breath a couple of times, she replied, "I sleep very still. A narrow bed is fine."

Yu Yeqing was silent for a moment, then his hand moved to the crook of her knee, lifting her leg slightly to facilitate his continued motion.

"When you were with Lord Shao here, did you also bump your head?"

Song Hemei was bewildered by his question and instinctively answered, "No."

Her reactions were slow at that moment, and it took several circuits in her mind before she belatedly understood his meaning.

She raised her hand again to loop around Yu Yeqing's neck, bringing her lips close to his ear as she lowered her voice. "I'd forgotten. There's one more thing I haven't told you."

Yu Yeqing responded with a low hum.

Song Hemei's voice was scattered from his movements, but she persisted, "Shao Wen'ang injured himself falling from a horse back then. He couldn't consummate the marriage with me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have felt at ease living under the same roof with him..."

Yu Yeqing was completely stunned. He even stopped his movements entirely, half-propping himself up to look down at her.

She met his gaze, tightening her fingers that gripped his arm, her voice strained, "What are you doing?"

Yu Yeqing could finally piece everything together. No wonder the Shao family had dared to pass off Lianzhu as the legitimate heir—a move that invited gossip. The real explanation was here.

But before he could speak, his chest received a pounding blow.

Song Hemei gritted her teeth, "Can you get on with it or not? If you like spacing out so much, just don't do this in the future."

Yu Yeqing suppressed the surprise in his eyes, then kissed her lips again. Next, he abandoned the maddening alternating of slow and fast, light and heavy from before, and drove her straight on with the force of a sudden storm. She gasped heavily, and even with her best efforts to hold back, a stifled moan still escaped her throat.

He held her very tightly, and when it was over, he did not immediately withdraw. Instead, he kissed her neck, waiting for her to calm down.

Only when the sensations of tightness and tremor had slightly faded did he lean close to her ear and ask, "Did you like it?"

Song Hemei bit her lip, grateful that his head was bowed, so he wouldn't see her embarrassed expression right now.

Asking her such a question at a moment like this, and so bluntly, made it hard for her not to feel coy. But she couldn't lie and hurt his feelings, after all, no one would want to be disliked at a time like this.

She told the truth, "I liked it quite a bit."

Actually, she had liked it three years ago too. He had a good appearance and a good body, and his actions were very considerate. It was only natural to like being with him like this.

But then he asked again, "Then do you like me?"

"Of course I do. Isn't that a pointless question?" Song Hemei didn't understand him. "Otherwise, why would I be here with you doing this?"

Yu Yeqing shifted, and she could clearly feel him stirring again.

Yet he persisted, "Do you like me because you like this?"

As he spoke, his hand moved down to explore, finding a certain spot and gently pressing and kneading.

Song Hemei's body stiffened once more. A sensation both unfamiliar and familiar spread through her, quickly giving rise to a thought—even though they weren't yet separated, she already didn't want him to stay still any longer.

She was truly surprised and amazed. She had never known that this spot, when combined like this, could produce such an unbearable sensation.

She didn't know if he was waiting for her to initiate or deliberately being mischievous. He only teased her lightly, and as her breathing quickened again, he asked once more, "Do you like me, or do you like this?"

Song Hemei pulled at his inner robe, trying to guide his hips down, but he remained unmoved, insisting on hearing her answer.

Though she was indeed a bit impatient, she still said, "Of course I like you. This has nothing to do with it. Do you really see me as someone so desperate for pleasure?"

Her words, paired with her ragged breaths and the strength she used to pull and urge him on, were indeed not very convincing.

But Yu Yeqing's questions weren't over. "If you could only choose one—me or this—which would you pick?"

This time, Song Hemei truly couldn't take it anymore, neither in her heart nor her body.

She bit his earlobe hard, then said, "What kind of problem is that? Can these things even be separated? What, if I choose you, we won't do this in the future? Or if I choose this, we only meet when we need to do the deed?"

Yu Yeqing seemed to realize his question was wrong. He was silent for a moment before speaking, "I'm only worried that you might mistakenly think you have feelings for me because of this. After all—"

He didn't finish his sentence, but somehow, Song Hemei felt she could guess what it was.

After all, in the three years she had been married to Shao Wen'ang in name only, she might find it so pleasurable to do this with him that she mistook it for affection.

Song Hemei was somewhat angry at his unkind words, but hearing his deep tone, she detected a hint of melancholy in it.

Enduring the unbearable sensations in her body, she coaxed him gently, with good temper, "You don't need to misunderstand. I think you're quite good. It's only natural that I fancy you. It has nothing to do with anything else."

He propped himself up slightly. The faint candle flame in the room had burned down to a mere stub, and moonlight streamed in from outside, making his features appear even more handsome. But in his desire-filled eyes, there was still hesitation. "You think I'm very good?"

Whether he was good or not aside, he was clearly restraining himself too. Why was he doing something that hurt himself more than the enemy?

Song Hemei hissed and said petulantly, "If you keep stringing me along like this, then from now on, I'll just go along with your wishes—only choose you, and never do this again."

Yu Yeqing took a moment to process what she meant, then immediately explained, "That's not what I meant. I just thought that if I go slowly, it'll last longer for you."

He asked her seriously, "You don't like it? But look, you do like it."

He pressed and kneaded again, and Song Hemei immediately felt her legs tremble violently, from her lower belly to her waist—it all seemed to prove his point.

The next moment, he pressed down, heavy and tightly sealed against her.

Just as he'd said, the accumulated longing was met with ultimate satisfaction. In that single instant, she felt as if her soul had flown beyond the heavens, her entire body arching and her neck stretching back.

All the build-up seemed to lead to this moment, but immediately, it became the start of a new accumulation. And because of the experience from before, the unbearable intensity of this time was even more heightened.

Song Hemei could no longer speak. Her reason submitted to her body. She was controlled and guided by him. He knew her all too well—every possible reaction she might have was within his expectation.

Perhaps fearing she would misunderstand again, he told her everything before each step.

"If I speed up now, you won't be able to take it... If I stop here, you'll feel an extraordinary pleasure and want more. Am I right?"

She verified his words one by one, but the added anticipation only increased her shyness, making his predictions even more complete, even surpassing them.

Finally, she received his assessment, laced with a question: "Your reactions are even stronger than I imagined. Why? You like it when I talk to you like this, don't you?"

Song Hemei felt her body must be flushed red and hot. She wanted to tell him to stop, or simply deny it. She didn't dare think about what it would be like if every time from now on was like this...

But before she could open her mouth, Yu Yeqing had already clearly judged that the moment was ripe. His hand moved away from the crucial spot, and both hands clasped at her waist. Then, he was utterly unrestrained, utterly merciless.

Sounds from her throat could no longer be suppressed. The overwhelming sensation mingled with the violently shaking bed curtain. All the lewd sounds beside her ear were extraordinarily clear. Even though she knew her bed was not like a desk, this sturdy bedstead still emitted a few mournful creaks.

Until at last, her vision suddenly went black. Her body was completely drained of strength. Even her hands, which had been gripping the fabric of his inner robe at his waist, fell limp. She had no strength left to embrace him, nor to resist or pull away.

Yu Yeqing was completely unaware of how excessive his bluntness had been. He leaned down and gave her a light peck. "Very tired, aren't you? Let's stop here for today."

He kept his word. Unlike last time, when he had lingered after finishing, he slowly withdrew.

Song Hemei stared blankly, thinking: He really isn't someone obsessed with lust. Three years ago, he was the same—matching her preferences and stamina, never greedy or clinging.

But back then, their relationship had been different. He was paid for his service. If he had indulged, how could he have had the right to take money?

Yet now, it was clearly different from three years ago, and he still stopped at the right point, not continuing.

What was this? Did he simply not like this kind of thing? He relieved the reaction she had stirred in him, then exhausted her strength. Was that his goal?

Song Hemei felt an indescribable unease in her heart. Perhaps it was regret that he didn't seem to desire her the way she desired him, or perhaps it was doubt about how much he really liked her. If he liked her so much, how could he be so calm in such matters?

This kind of thing was hard for her to ask aloud. She lay flat on her back, resting and recovering, while Yu Yeqing lay beside her and held her tightly, avoiding any sensitive spots.

He hadn't glossed over his earlier question because of the pleasure. Leaning close to her ear, he asked again, "What kind of good do you see in me?"
