BBQT - Chapter 14

Chapter 14

“His Highness is being too outrageous! It’s your wedding day, how could he take a concubine today, perform the ceremony with her first, and make you wait? Where does this leave the Prime Minister’s Manor’s dignity? He truly has no regard for the Emperor or the Prime Minister!”

Qiu Chi heard this the moment she arrived. Combined with the memories in her mind, her temper flared instantly. She ripped off the veil, removed the heavy phoenix crown from her head, and stormed out.

The maid, who had been complaining, was instantly stunned. “What are you doing? No matter what, today is your wedding day. Even if His Highness is being absurd, you can’t…”

Qiu Chi shot the maid a cold glare and snapped, “Shut up!”

Then, ignoring everyone’s attempts to stop her, she drew a sword from one of the guards and headed for the ceremony hall.

Qiu Chi showed no mercy to those who tried to block her path, simply slashing at them with the sword.

Since they were wary of her status and dared not fight back, she reached the couple performing the ceremony without much effort.

The hall full of guests stared at Qiu Chi in shock. The king, who was about to bow to his bride, looked at her with undisguised disgust in his eyes. “Miss Cui, you were supposed to be waiting in the bridal sedan. What do you think you’re doing, removing your own veil and making such a scene?”

“I’m doing what you were trying to do.”

King Jing was acting this way to humiliate the Prime Minister’s Manor. He had wanted to marry Cui Yueyue’s older sister by the primary wife, Cui Mingyu, but the Prime Minister’s Manor had sent Cui Mingyu into the palace to become a Noble Consort.

To make matters worse, Cui Mingyu had then asked the Emperor to decree a marriage between Cui Yueyue, the daughter of a concubine, and King Jing. The Emperor, who wasn’t on good terms with this younger brother of his, naturally agreed with pleasure.

As a king, being forced to marry the daughter of a prime minister’s concubine was an unbearable insult to King Jing. He felt that both the Emperor and the Prime Minister’s Manor were humiliating him, which led to the current scene.

But Cui Yueyue had also been completely bewildered by this sudden imperial marriage. She was already in love with someone else and had even made a pact with him: he would come to the Prime Minister’s Manor to propose as soon as he passed the imperial examinations this year.

Now, this sudden marriage decree had shattered her agreement with her beloved. On top of that, she had to endure King Jing’s humiliation. Even without seeing the rest of the plot, and recalling the karmic retribution-like fate of Su An'an, Qiu Chi could imagine just how miserable Cui Yueyue’s life would be.

In any case, King Jing had wanted to ruin the wedding from the start. He just couldn’t do it too openly because it was an imperial decree, so he resorted to humiliation. In that case, she might as well be more direct and help him ruin it completely, which would also push the plot along more thoroughly.

System: 【…】 But the plot is supposed to be about Cui Yueyue being humiliated and abused! And I clearly sealed her cultivation!

With that, Qiu Chi raised her sword and slashed directly at King Jing. He dodged, looking somewhat flustered, and roared, “Insolent!”

Qiu Chi’s tone was lazy. “Oh, my apologies. My hand slipped.”

Then, right in front of King Jing, she smashed the table on the high platform to pieces, sending everything on it scattering across the floor.

Not stopping there, she proceeded to destroy every other table in the room, her gaze then falling on the chairs people were sitting on.

King Jing, snapping back to his senses, was furious. “Cui Yueyue, are you trying to die? What are you all paid for? Just standing there watching her rampage? Don’t you know how to stop her?!”

Qiu Chi ignored the people trying to seize her. Instead, she lifted the veil of the woman marrying King Jing and remarked, “Quite pretty. King Jing is a lucky man.”

After her remark, she turned and slashed at those who were trying to grab her.

No matter how enraged King Jing became, the wedding was thoroughly ruined by Qiu Chi.

The guests who had come to attend had long since slipped away, afraid of getting caught in the crossfire.

In the end, all the guests were gone, leaving only the manor’s guards and maids amidst the wreckage.

The woman who had been marrying King Jing hid weakly behind him. “Sister, Princess Consort, how could you do this? Today is your wedding to His Highness! By ruining the wedding, what have you done to the King’s honor…”

“No,” Qiu Chi corrected her. “It’s your wedding with King Jing, not mine.”

“As for his honor? He has no shame himself, so why should I give him any face?”

King Jing’s face was grim. “So this is your true face…”

“Hold on,” Qiu Chi cut him off. “I don’t know you, do I? I’ve never pretended to be anything in front of you, so what’s this about a ‘true face’?”

With that, she ignored King Jing’s ugly expression and pointed to a young maid. “You, lead the way. I’m going to my room to rest.”

“Cui Yueyue, this is King Jing’s Manor! It’s not a place for you to be so audacious and unruly!”

King Jing had just finished his furious outburst when the tip of Qiu Chi’s sword was at his brow. “Cut the crap. One more word and I’ll kill you!”

The system was dumbfounded: 【Wait, you were fine in the last world! Why are you so violent again? King Jing can’t die! Have you forgotten the plot!】

Qiu Chi followed the young maid toward the courtyard. Hearing the system, she replied, “I haven’t forgotten. I didn’t kill him, did I?”

As for why she was so violent?

Drawing her blade at the slightest disagreement was her true nature.

A place like the last world, with rules at every turn, was far too restrictive and simply didn’t suit her.

Although she was no saint, every world had its own rules. Since she was there, she naturally had to abide by them.

But this world was very similar to the mortal realm of the Xingyun Realm. She had spent time in the mortal realm and knew what it was like, so there was no need to suppress herself.

Although the wedding was ruined, she had still officially become Princess Consort Jing.

That night, King Jing naturally had no intention of coming to her, but the Emperor sent someone to remind him: “Your Highness, the Princess Consort is, after all, the Prime Minister’s daughter, and this marriage was personally decreed by His Majesty the Emperor. The Emperor will not fault you for the unseemly matter of performing the ceremony with a concubine and leaving the Princess Consort waiting today. However, if you were to leave the Princess Consort alone again on your wedding night, that would be indefensible, wouldn’t it?”

King Jing’s gaze was cold. He felt a rage simmering in his chest, with no way to vent it. He suppressed his anger and said through gritted teeth, “The Emperor knows I performed the ceremony with a concubine. Does he not also know that Cui Yueyue ruined the wedding?”

The eunuch smiled. “Of course, the Emperor knows. But His Majesty also said that since you were in the wrong first by performing the ceremony with a concubine, and the Princess Consort ruined the wedding in anger afterward, the matter can be considered even. He hopes Your Highness will not dwell on it.”

Somehow, King Jing managed not to cough up blood from sheer rage.

He suppressed the frustration in his heart, the words seeming to be squeezed from between his teeth, exceptionally cold. “I understand. I will go to the Princess Consort’s courtyard now.”

The eunuch, as if not noticing King Jing’s stifled anger, continued to smile. “It is wonderful that Your Highness can see it this way. This one will go report to the Emperor now.”

“Take care, Eunuch.”
