BBQT - Chapter 15

Chapter 15

After the eunuch left, King Jing headed toward Qiu Chi’s courtyard, his gaze gloomy.

Qiu Chi was currently reviewing the subsequent plot. As expected, Cui Yueyue’s fate was miserable, and she didn’t see any important plot points. Besides being abused, it was just more abuse. Could this even be considered a plot?

“Being abused is the so-called plot?”

【Yes, yes! Didn’t you receive benefits from the last world? If you follow the plot properly in this world, the benefits will definitely be even greater.】

Qiu Chi chuckled dryly. “Are you kidding me? You want me to suffer abuse for such a small benefit? How about I abuse you for a bit first?”

The System fell silent. 【How about you just do whatever you want, but just don’t kill them, okay? But if you do that, the benefits you get will definitely be very few…】

“You can shut up now.”

As Qiu Chi’s words fell, King Jing happened to push the door open and come in. He gave Qiu Chi a gloomy look and started to step forward.

The sword was right beside Qiu Chi. The moment King Jing moved to step forward, its tip was pointed at him. “Looking to die?”

King Jing stopped in his tracks and said coldly, “Today is our wedding day.”

“No, it’s the day of your wedding to another woman.”

Qiu Chi emphasized the error in his words, but his expression turned even uglier. “Did you think this king wanted to marry a shrew like you?”

The word “shrew” had barely left his lips when Qiu Chi directly slashed a bloody line across his face with her sword. The force was perfectly controlled; it drew blood without cutting too deep. “If you dare curse at me again, it won’t be as simple as a single cut.”

Qiu Chi was so fast that King Jing only felt the stinging pain on his face after she finished speaking. He touched his face, saw the blood on his hand, and was filled with shock and rage. “You’re courting death! Don’t think you can act so wantonly just because you have the Prime Minister’s Manor backing you. No matter what, this king is still a king. Even if I killed you, they wouldn’t dare say a thing!”

Qiu Chi let out a soft laugh. “Why don’t you try and see if you can kill me?”

“And you, as a king, you’re living quite a stifled life, aren’t you? I ruined the wedding today. What did the Emperor have to say?”

Meeting Qiu Chi’s mocking gaze, King Jing only felt increasingly suffocated with anger. When he thought of that eunuch, his gaze grew even colder.

If looks could kill, Qiu Chi would have probably been sliced to death by his gaze long ago.

Unfortunately, looks couldn’t kill, and Qiu Chi wasn’t the least bit afraid of him. “You can get out.”

“This is the royal manor, my residence. If anyone’s getting out, it should be you!”

Qiu Chi raised an eyebrow, pointing her sword at King Jing again. “It seems that last strike didn’t teach you a lesson, did it?”

“Heh, it was only because this king was caught off guard. Do you really think you’re that skilled?”

“Oh? Then let’s have a little spar.”

Qiu Chi swung her sword at him. After King Jing dodged in a sorry state, he tried to snatch the sword from her hand, sneering, “You don’t even know how to use a sword, yet you have the nerve to stand before this king…”

Unfortunately, before he could finish his sentence, Qiu Chi kicked him away. Her sword was now pointed right between his eyebrows, and a light touch left another bloody mark.

“How about it?”

King Jing stared at the sword in Qiu Chi’s hand, his expression unreadable. Then he said, “You are not Cui Yueyue. Cui Yueyue is just a sheltered young lady from the inner chambers; it’s impossible for her to have such martial prowess.”

After speaking, King Jing looked up, his gaze fixed directly on Qiu Chi. The disgust was gone from his eyes as he questioned, “Who are you? What is your purpose?”

“None of your damn business. You can get out now.”

Not only did King Jing not leave, but he also got up from the floor, sat down on a nearby stool, poured himself a cup of water, and then said, “I don’t care who you are or what your purpose is. As long as it’s not related to the Prime Minister’s Manor, we can talk. Today, this king must stay in this room. Even if you kill me, I will not leave.”

Even though his heart was filled with resentment toward the Emperor, he could only endure it, obey his decree, and pretend to be docile to lower his guard.

Qiu Chi withdrew her sword, not surprised by King Jing’s current behavior.

Although the plot mostly consisted of Cui Yueyue being abused—first in the royal manor, then in the imperial palace—King Jing did indeed ascend to the throne in the end.

Qiu Chi hadn’t restrained her personality in the first place. Unless he was a fool, it was impossible for him not to realize she wasn’t Cui Yueyue.

Now that King Jing was being sensible, she didn’t say anything more, only stating, “You can choose between the floor and the couch. The bed is mine.”

Although she would be fine without sleeping, the bed had to be hers.

As a king, although he was guarded against by the Emperor, he was still revered by others and had never been defied. Hearing Qiu Chi’s matter-of-fact tone now, he couldn’t help but grit his teeth and remind her, “This king is a king. Don’t you think you’re being far too arrogant and insolent?”

“So what?”

Qiu Chi didn’t think there was anything wrong with her behavior in the slightest. This was just how she was. A mere king wanted her to yield? Simply wishful thinking.

“Forget a king like you. Even if the Emperor or your ancestors were here today, I would still be this arrogant. Understand?”

King Jing ignored Qiu Chi’s words and asked again, “Who exactly are you?”

“Don’t ask what you shouldn’t. Ask again and I’ll kill you.”

After speaking, Qiu Chi directly lowered the bed curtains, blocking King Jing’s view, and began to meditate inside.

The System grumbled: 【There’s no spiritual energy here, and I’ve sealed your cultivation. What’s the use of meditating?】

Qiu Chi said with her eyes closed, “You think you’re pretty powerful, don’t you?”

The System thought exactly that. Although it found Qiu Chi a bit scary, hadn’t it sealed her cultivation and brought her across worlds to do missions?

With this thought, its little tail was about to stick up to the heavens. 【That’s right, I’ve always been powerful.】

“Heh, it’s good to have dreams.”

The System was unconvinced and wanted to list its own strengths, but when it tried to speak, it discovered it couldn’t open its mouth?!

What was going on?!

Why couldn’t it speak anymore?!

Just as the System was growing frantic, it heard Qiu Chi say leisurely, “So this is the ‘very powerful’ you.”

System: 【!!!】 Hadn’t it sealed her cultivation? It clearly hadn’t revealed its true form! What on earth was happening?!

With the System unable to speak, Qiu Chi’s ears were finally quiet. She closed her eyes and continued to meditate.

Outside, King Jing continued to stare at the bed. Even though he couldn’t see the person inside, he didn’t look away. His gaze was deep as he pondered Qiu Chi’s origins and whether she could be of use to him.

After finishing a cup of tea, King Jing finally remembered his wounds.

He touched his face; the bleeding had already stopped. After treating the wound and applying some medicine, he took another deep look at the bed before finally lying down on the couch and closing his eyes.

The next day, King Jing woke up early. He got up and was about to lift the bed curtains to see if Qiu Chi was awake.

Who knew that just as he reached out his hand, Qiu Chi flicked the curtains open with her sword, staring at him coldly. “What do you think you’re doing?”

King Jing withdrew his hand, showing no shame or embarrassment at being caught. “This king just wanted to see if you were awake.”
