Chapter 94
“Delicious! Incredibly delicious! I’ve never had anything this good in my life!”
The man fell silent.
Qiu Chi also fell silent.
She felt that following him here had been a bit pointless. The man was clearly a fanatical foodie.
Perhaps if she’d just waited at the Demon Sect, he would have brought his entire sect to her doorstep.
Just as Qiu Chi was about to leave, she heard the man ask, “So, if I willingly offer myself up as a consort, do you think I can eat for free?”
Qiu Chi: “???” Eat for free? In his dreams!
Before the other men could answer, Qiu Chi had already flown down from the mountaintop, answering his question as she landed. “No. Not unless you bring your entire sect and join my Demon Sect.”
“A consort? Hah! In your dreams. The most I can offer you is the position of Protector, in charge of the group of people who join my Demon Sect along with you.”
“I alone will be the Sect Leader!”
The men, who had dismissed Qiu Chi as some naive girl with, at best, a few clumsy moves, stared in shock as she flew down from the high mountain.
“Oh my god, is that even humanly possible?”
He immediately shut his mouth when Qiu Chi’s gaze fell on him.
Qiu Chi snorted. “It only proves that you’re all weaklings!”
The man’s expression turned serious. “If I bring my people to join your Demon Sect, can you guarantee I’ll get to eat delicious food every day? And one more thing—we don’t do all those evil things people talk about in the martial world.”
“What a coincidence. We don’t do those things either. I’ve always felt that if we’re going to plunder, we should target the major sects, not prey on ordinary people.”
At Qiu Chi’s words, expressions of sudden realization dawned on the faces of the men before her.
One of them even muttered, “That’s right, why didn’t we think of that?”
Qiu Chi was once again left speechless. “It wouldn’t have mattered if you had. You only have one choice now: join my Demon Sect.”
This time, the man agreed readily. “Alright. Should we leave now?”
Qiu Chi: “…”
The other men present clearly knew what their leader was like, and they all wore expressions that said they couldn’t bear to watch.
“Since you’re so eager to join us, go gather your people and we’ll set off.”
The man shook his head. “No, I’ll go ahead with you, Sect Leader. They can follow later. We have to bring all the chickens, ducks, cattle, and sheep, so it might take a while. These guys know where our Demon Sect is, so we can just leave them to lead the way.”
The man’s proactive attitude left Qiu Chi at a loss.
She had thought she would need to use a bit of force to get them to agree. Who knew the mere promise of delicious food would be enough to win them over?
Qiu Chi couldn’t help but feel it wasn’t that simple. Could they be so poor that they would jump at the first offer to take them in, unhesitatingly letting her take on their burden?
Despite her suspicions, Qiu Chi accepted the burden with a calm expression.
In any case, the money from the two major sects and three great families was more than enough. It could support not just another hundred people, but even a thousand more.
However, Qiu Chi was no pushover. Once they were on her turf, they had to work. She wouldn’t be merciful to those who didn’t pull their weight.
Qiu Chi brought the man, whose name was Hei Yu, back to the Demon Sect and introduced him to Zhao Xuan. “This is our Right Guardian, Hei Yu. Over a hundred more people will be arriving in a few days, and he’ll be in charge of them. You two can coordinate things from here.”
Hei Yu nodded. “I’m a bit hungry. Can we coordinate over a meal?”
“That’s between you two.”
In the few days she spent with Hei Yu, Qiu Chi truly witnessed the man’s incredible appetite.
He wasn’t picky, eating whether the food was delicious or not, and making sure not to waste a single morsel.
When faced with delicious food, he would wolf it down.
When faced with something unappetizing or bland, he would chew slowly and deliberately.
But his appetite aside, the man was a decent fighter.
Qiu Chi already had a plan for him.
At the upcoming martial arts conference, this man would be perfect for making a grand display.
As the leader of the Demon Sect, she couldn’t possibly handle everything personally, could she? How undignified would that be?
