Chapter 96
After her senior brother followed, Zhou Yun was furious. She had wanted to turn and leave, but in the end, she couldn't accept it. Stomping her foot, she followed them anyway.
When she caught up, she discovered that her incredibly skilled senior brother was being beaten by Qiu Chi, completely unable to fight back.
Lou Yu, who was a tad stronger than her senior brother, was also getting beaten by Qiu Chi.
Ru Niang stood to one side, her face a mask of extreme anxiety, yet she remained completely still.
Zhou Yun angrily stepped forward and berated them. "Are you men or not? Do you think I don't know what Shangguan Yue is capable of? The two of you can't even beat her. Who do you think would believe that?!"
"What kind of bewitching potion did Shangguan Yue give you two? You're just letting her beat you without even fighting back?"
"And you," she said, turning to Ru Niang. "Don't you follow Lou Yu around all day? Can't you go and subdue Shangguan Yue? If your martial arts are no good, can't you use medicine?"
Ru Niang, whose xue points had been sealed, rendering her unable to move or speak: "..."
While in the middle of beating them, Qiu Chi spared a glance for Zhou Yun but ignored her.
Zhou Yun continued her tirade for a while before she noticed something was wrong. "You're even hitting their faces? You..."
Before she could finish, she saw Lou Yu's scar-covered face. Zhou Yun was so startled that she instantly fell silent.
Zhou Yun's senior brother couldn't take much of a beating. He was soon lying on the ground, looking half-dead. Since beating him wasn't nearly as satisfying as beating Lou Yu, Qiu Chi kicked him over to Zhou Yun.
Zhou Yun held her senior brother, her eyes turning red as she glared furiously at Qiu Chi.
It was only then that she belatedly realized they hadn't been going easy on Qiu Chi—Qiu Chi was genuinely that powerful.
She said in disbelief, "Impossible. How could Shangguan Yue be this powerful? Are you really Shangguan Yue?"
After planting her foot on the half-dead Lou Yu, Qiu Chi finally answered Zhou Yun's question. "Lou Yu should be quite clear on that. You'd better ask him."
With that, Qiu Chi glanced at the anxious Ru Niang, shook her head, gave Lou Yu another kick, and said, "See you around."
Not long after Qiu Chi left, the seal on Ru Niang's xue points released automatically. She rushed to Lou Yu's side and tearfully pushed a medicinal pill into his mouth.
Zhou Yun immediately demanded, "I want one too! My senior brother is injured as well. This is all your fault! Shangguan Yue was targeting him!"
Ru Niang ignored Zhou Yun, instead struggling to help Lou Yu up and lead him toward their inn.
Lou Yu, however, was unappreciative and shoved her away.
"Young Master, your wounds hadn't even healed, and now you've been injured again. What you need most right now is to rest and receive treatment. You..."
"This has nothing to do with you. Stop meddling."
Zhou Yun, trailing behind them: "..." It seemed her senior brother wasn't completely deranged after all. She had just seen it with her own eyes—Lou Yu's gaze had never left Shangguan Yue's face. He was so infatuated even while being beaten by that violent woman. He was truly sick. And now he was even refusing a doctor. Was it because the doctor was a woman?
After letting her imagination run wild with all sorts of theories, Zhou Yun didn't forget to ask Lou Yu, "Is she Shangguan Yue or not? How could Shangguan Yue possibly be that strong!"
Her senior brother, whom she was supporting, also looked toward Lou Yu, waiting for an answer.
This made Zhou Yun even angrier. She let go of her senior brother, who swayed and nearly fell before looking at her in confusion.
Zhou Yun snorted. "What are you looking at me for? If you're so hung up on Shangguan Yue, go ask her to support you!"
Her senior brother said, "...Junior Sister, stop making a scene. I'm not hung up on Shangguan... Shangguan Yue."
He did have a bit of a crush on Shangguan Yue, but after being beaten half to death by Qiu Chi, any feelings he might have had were replaced by fear.
With another cold snort, Zhou Yun took hold of him again.
Lou Yu, however, ignored them. He didn't let Ru Niang help him either, simply walking on his own.
Zhou Yun persisted, "I'm talking to you, didn't you hear? Is she Shangguan Yue or not? Just open your mouth and say yes or no. Is that so difficult?"
Lou Yu continued to ignore them, acting as if he were deaf and blind.
Zhou Yun was furious but helpless. After all, she only dared to talk tough; she wouldn't dare actually lay a hand on Lou Yu.
Three of the four were silent, with only Zhou Yun chattering away.
Seeing there was nothing more to watch, Qiu Chi finally departed.
Qiu Chi didn't return directly to the Demon Sect. Instead, she paid another visit to the two sects and three families whose treasuries she had emptied, taking a stroll around their grounds.
Their treasuries now held a considerable number of items again. While it couldn't compare to before, they were still considered wealthy.
This time, however, their security was much tighter. They were likely trying to lure her into a trap.
A pity.
She took the goods.
But they could forget about catching her.
This time, just to mess with them, Qiu Chi deliberately dressed in white and floated around in front of them at night. She drifted into the treasury and then drifted back out. The figure vanished, and so did everything in the treasury.
Qiu Chi had a wonderful time.
Those who had seen her had already started burning incense and praying to Buddha.
When they held another meeting, their conclusion was nearly unanimous: "This cannot possibly be the work of a human! So many people saw that white figure that day. It merely drifted into the treasury for an instant, and everything disappeared. How could any person do that?!"
