Chapter 108
Qiu Chi was about to vomit from disgust at Xi Li.
She pulled out her whip and lashed out. "Stop fucking disgusting me. You really think I don't know what kind of trash you are? You're just asking for a beating!"
Qiu Chi's whip seemed to have a mind of its own. No matter how Xi Li tried to dodge, it still struck him.
His expression darkened. "Even if you don't believe me, there was no need to attack me directly, was there?"
Qiu Chi snorted. "Weren't you the one spouting lies to disgust me just now? What's wrong with a few lashes? You're making me want to puke."
"What I said wasn't a fabrication..."
Xi Li tried to argue, but Qiu Chi put more force into her whip, severely injuring him with a single strike. "You still dare to talk back? You've got guts. Say another word, and see if I don't kill you."
Xi Li shut up.
He gave Qiu Chi a deep, meaningful look before returning directly to the War God Manor.
Qiu Chi shattered Xi Li's barrier.
The immortals who were still watching the show saw that with Xi Li gone, Qiu Chi remained, sitting arrogantly atop the wall. She looked in their direction, a faint, mocking smile on her face. "Have you seen enough?"
The immortals wondered, "Is she talking to us?"
"Tch, ignore her. How could a minor demon who just ascended know we're here? Does she really think she's the War God?"
"But from the way she's looking, it really seems like she knows..."
"She must be pretending..."
Qiu Chi didn't waste any more words on them. She shattered their barrier with a crack of her whip and then asked, "Was the show entertaining?"
There was dead silence. No one answered, all of them staring at Qiu Chi in disbelief.
The oppressive force from that single crack of her whip had been so powerful that they still hadn't quite recovered their senses.
Finding it dull, Qiu Chi leaped down from the wall and returned to her quarters.
Only after Qiu Chi had left did they begin to recover, still shocked by that whip strike. "She seems... really powerful..."
"Impossible! It must have been the whip's power. The War God probably gave her a divine artifact, which is why it could intimidate us. How could a minor demon who just ascended be that powerful?" This came from those who refused to admit Qiu Chi's strength.
"Stop kidding yourselves. She could clearly sense our location through the barrier and shatter it with a single lash. That alone proves her strength. No matter how powerful a whip is, what's the use if the wielder is weak?" This came from those who had already accepted reality and believed Qiu Chi was indeed formidable.
The two factions of immortals argued endlessly, each sticking to their own opinion. In the end, they parted on bad terms.
Those who still couldn't stand Qiu Chi quickly gathered around Su Qin.
They all wanted to know what had happened behind the barrier that day and how the War God had reacted to Qiu Chi sitting so arrogantly on the wall.
Su Qin said vaguely, "The War God... he didn't really pay much attention to that fairy..."
Although Su Qin was vague and trailed off, it didn't stop the other immortals from filling in the blanks.
Because Su Qin had hesitated, they concocted an entire drama in their minds.
For instance, they imagined that the War God had ignored Qiu Chi after coming out, and when she tried to speak to him, he gave her the cold shoulder. Perhaps something even more humiliating had happened, which Su Qin was too embarrassed to mention.
But just because she didn't say it didn't mean they couldn't guess.
And so, based on Su Qin's hesitant words, they imagined a grand drama, embellished it, and passed it on to other immortals.
By the time the rumors reached Qiu Chi's ears, the story had transformed into this: That day, Lingling had gone looking for the War God, using Su Qin to lure him out so she could beg him not to expel her from the manor. She had supposedly kowtowed and admitted her faults, but the War God remained unmoved. He had even harshly reprimanded Lingling, telling her it was impossible for her to stay and that she should stop wasting her efforts...
The rumor was spread with such conviction that if Qiu Chi hadn't known what really happened, she might have believed it herself.
Qiu Chi went to find the source of the rumors: Su Qin.
She toyed with a piece of jade in her hand, looking at Su Qin with a mocking smile. "I never realized you were so skilled at spinning tales."
Su Qin lowered her eyes, avoiding Qiu Chi's gaze. "What does Fairy Lingling mean? I don't understand."
"It's fine if you don't understand. But surely you understand the rumors about me spreading through the Immortal Realm? Don't you have any damn clue what really happened that day?"
Su Qin pressed her lips together, still unwilling to admit anything. "Of course I've heard the rumors. But I've only just arrived in the Immortal Realm; my words carry no weight. Even if I wanted to defend you, it would be useless. Why come and trouble me over this?"
Qiu Chi chuckled. "You're quite sharp-tongued. As for how the story got twisted into this ridiculous state... if you claim you had nothing to do with it, do you think I'd believe you?"
"Whether you believe me or not, I wasn't the one who said it."
Qiu Chi nodded casually, then stepped outside and dragged in a string of immortals all tied together. "Here, you can all confront each other. Let's see who really said it."
The immortals, bound together in a clump, had been silenced by a spell. Unable to speak, they could only glare furiously at Qiu Chi.
Su Qin, however, was startled, her face turning pale. "Fairy, what are you doing?"
Toying with the jade, Qiu Chi said nonchalantly, "I'm letting you confront each other. I can't just stand by while you all slander my name and not seek justice for myself, can I? Do I look like someone you can push around?"
