Chapter 138
The Church’s alliance with the werewolves was, of course, intended to be the death of Boyis.
With Shasha in the picture, it wasn't impossible for them to achieve their goal.
But Shasha went soft.
Even though she knew Boyis's existence was no good thing, she couldn't bring herself to kill him.
So when the time came to act, she held back.
She knew vampires were hard to kill, but they could be put into a deep slumber. If Boyis were asleep, he wouldn't be a threat to them, and then she would have repaid her debt to the Church, right?
The final outcome was that Shasha died at Boyis's hands, and Boyis, just as she had hoped, fell into a deep slumber once again.
The once-restless vampires settled down due to Boyis's slumber. The vampires and werewolves remained at a stalemate, and the Church returned to its former state.
In the end, the Church's initial plan succeeded.
Qiu Chi was speechless after reviewing the plot.
Shasha was pitiful, yes, but why couldn't she bring herself to harm a vampire just because she liked him?
It would have been one thing if the vampire had genuinely liked her, but he clearly saw her as food. Even Shasha's death was at his hands…
In short, Qiu Chi couldn't comprehend Shasha's thoughts.
But there was no need for her to understand. If she could, she wouldn't have been sent here.
The current moment was precisely when the Church planned to send Shasha to Boyis. They had already staged the accident and were just waiting for Boyis to follow the scent over.
Qiu Chi got up from the ground and glanced at the bleeding wounds on her body.
In broad daylight, ordinary vampires couldn't appear even if they wanted to.
But there were noble vampires who were not afraid of the sun.
Before Boyis arrived, a noble vampire had already followed the scent over.
Noble vampires were generally quite handsome. He suppressed his urge to drink her blood and approached Qiu Chi. "Oh, beautiful lady, you're injured. Would you like to come to my home to bandage that up?"
Even the naive Shasha would have refused such an invitation, let alone Qiu Chi.
She refused expressionlessly. "There's no need."
Qiu Chi turned to leave after she spoke, but the vampire reached out to grab her. She dodged him with lightning speed.
The vampire was somewhat surprised. "I'm only trying to be kind. Why must you be so averse to me, miss?"
This vampire had clearly mingled with humans enough to become slick, hoping to use his looks to get Qiu Chi to take the bait.
Unfortunately for him, Qiu Chi wasn't interested.
"Whether you're being kind or have ulterior motives, you know perfectly well. Get lost now, or believe it or not, I'll kill you."
Killing vampires wasn't against the law.
Seeing her reaction, the vampire's expression darkened. "Miss, you're really putting me in a difficult position. I had intended to be gentle, but since you refuse to cooperate, I'll have to apologize…"
As he spoke, the vampire reached for Qiu Chi again.
Qiu Chi knew that in the original plot, Boyis would intervene and forcibly take Shasha back to his castle.
But Qiu Chi had no need to wait for him. "Since you're courting death, I'll be happy to send you on your way."
Although killing vampires wasn't illegal, this was the modern world, so Qiu Chi didn't openly materialize anything.
However, a pair of silver gloves—the kind with small blades—quietly appeared on her hands.
Qiu Chi beat the vampire until his very soul dissipated.
All the while, Boyis was watching from a short distance away.
Only after the vampire's soul had completely dissipated and Qiu Chi had retracted her gloves and looked in his direction did he slowly walk toward her.
His pace seemed slow, but he reached her in a single step.
He stared at Qiu Chi for a long moment with his deep, gentle eyes.
Qiu Chi flexed her wrists, letting him stare while she contemplated how to beat him half to death.
However, vampires had rapid recovery. She might go through all the trouble of beating him half to death, only for him to recover a moment later. That was no good.
So she had to control her strength, to leave him with just a single breath in one go. That way, his rapid recovery wouldn't matter.
She would have to kill him a few times to figure out the precise amount of force required.
It was only the beginning, after all. She wasn't afraid of the world resetting.
Having figured this out, Qiu Chi looked up at Boyis.
Boyis was still staring at her. When she met his gaze, he finally spoke. "Your blood is delicious."
Qiu Chi nodded. "That's true."
Boyis didn't seem to expect such a reply. After a moment of silence, he asked, "How did you kill him just now?"
Qiu Chi smiled. "You want to know? Why don't you find out for yourself?"
As she spoke, her fist was already flying toward him.
She didn't use the silver gloves; she just wanted to test if she could kill a vampire with her bare fists.
Afraid she wouldn't be able to kill him, Qiu Chi deliberately used a bit more force. What she got in return was a world reset.
Qiu Chi: "???" That's it? And here I thought he was supposed to be powerful…
Qiu Chi tried a few more times and discovered that while vampires were indeed quite durable, they weren't that tough.
As for their resilience? They weren't even as tough as that one guy from the Immortal Realm.
So, she held back and tried a few more times, finally managing to grasp the perfect amount of force.
Boyis had no idea he had already been beaten to death several times.
When Qiu Chi knocked him to the ground, he found it utterly unbelievable.
Since when had such a powerful human existed?
Had he slept for so long that he could no longer keep up with the times?
Boyis's body was healing rapidly, though not as quickly as Qiu Chi had expected—likely because she had hit him too hard.
With her experiment concluded, Qiu Chi's patience wore thin. She said directly to Boyis, "Don't provoke me, and there won't be any trouble. From now on, try to appear before me as little as possible."
Boyis said nothing, merely watching Qiu Chi's back as she walked further and further away.
You ask if he had given up?
Of course not.
How could he possibly give up when he hadn't yet tasted such delicious blood?
He was the Vampire King. This was definitely a fluke.
It must be because he had just awakened and his power hadn't fully recovered. Once he drank a bit more blood, he would be sure to capture her.
Qiu Chi was still unaware of Boyis's inner thoughts.
After leaving, she didn't go to the Church.
The people from the Church had staged the accident. Once they knew Boyis was heading in that direction, they had fled immediately, not daring to linger for fear he would discover something was wrong.
As for Shasha's safety, they weren't particularly worried.
Never mind that ordinary vampires couldn't come out during the day; even if they could, Shasha's blood was lethal to them.
Noble vampires possessed a basic level of self-control. Even if they coveted Shasha's blood, they wouldn't just bite her on the spot. They preferred to savor their meals slowly rather than pouncing to drink blood immediately.
And that window of time was more than enough for Boyis to arrive.
Their calculations for the original plan had been spot on.
Unfortunately for them, it was now Qiu Chi.
However, having no one from the Church to supervise made things more convenient for Qiu Chi.
But there was one fatal problem: Shasha had no money, and her phone was broken.
After walking some distance away, Qiu Chi was suddenly filled with regret.
She should have followed Boyis back, then seized his castle and made herself its master.
