Chapter 146
The people from the Church had only taken a few steps inside when they saw Hall, who had come to greet them.
They followed Hall to where Qiu Chi was.
Upon seeing Qiu Chi’s leisurely appearance, the faces of the Church members darkened.
One of them immediately questioned her angrily, “Shasha, do you remember who you are? You’re a human! How can you spend all your time messing around with vampires?!”
Qiu Chi glanced at them and chuckled. “Messing around with vampires? Why don’t you tell me which vampire I’ve been messing around with?”
“Besides, aren’t you all perfectly clear on how I encountered the vampires and how I ended up here?”
Qiu Chi’s words made the Church members’ expressions turn ugly.
They said no more, instead turning to Hall beside them. “We’d like to speak with Shasha alone. Could you please step outside?”
Hall looked at Qiu Chi, and only after she nodded did he withdraw.
Once Hall was gone, the Church members no longer bothered to hide their intentions.
“Since you already know, we won’t hide it from you. You are indeed a bit different from others. Boyis must be very fond of your blood, isn’t he? Not just Boyis, but other vampires like it too. But to them, your blood is sweet but poisonous.”
“It’s true that we sent you to Boyis’s side on purpose, but this was for the sake of humanity. The vampires’ food is our fresh blood, but why should we willingly be their food?”
“We know we don’t have the power to eliminate all vampires, so we could only devise a way to create you. We’re not asking for Boyis to die; even just putting him to sleep would be enough.”
“That way, the peace we’ve worked so hard to maintain won’t be shattered. We are doing all of this for the future of humanity.”
“Shasha, you can understand us, right? I know this is very unfair to you, but we had no other choice. If we had the strength to fight the vampires, we wouldn’t want to do this either…”
Towards the end, the Church, as expected, began to play the emotional card.
Qiu Chi listened calmly until they finished, then offered a reminder. “You haven’t forgotten, have you? This is vampire territory. You’re quite bold, scheming against them on their own turf.”
The Church members, who had been trying to move Qiu Chi with their emotional appeal, found their expressions stiffening at her words.
They wouldn’t have sought out Qiu Chi at this time without any information. They spoke so directly because they knew she had left, which was why they were so blunt.
But looking at Qiu Chi now, it was clear she had no intention of acknowledging her own prowess.
The leader of the Church group, who had been silent all this time, finally spoke. “Shasha, do you remember what I told you when I was teaching you before?”
Another emotional appeal.
Qiu Chi shook her head without hesitation. “I don’t remember.”
After a pause, she added, “Oh, right. I forgot to tell you. I’m not Shasha, so playing the emotional card with me is useless.”
The Church members had considered many possibilities, but they never expected Qiu Chi to declare outright that she wasn’t Shasha.
Now, hearing her words, they were all stunned.
The leader frowned and asked, “If you’re not Shasha, then who are you? Where is Shasha?”
In their hearts, they were inclined to believe her. Shasha’s every move had been under their surveillance. They knew exactly what she was capable of. The person described in their reports, who could beat Boyis senseless, bore no resemblance to Shasha.
Still, they wanted Qiu Chi to act and kill Boyis. This time, they were prepared to try a different approach.
Unfortunately, Qiu Chi gave them no such opportunity and immediately ordered them to leave.
“You don’t need to know who I am, just that I’m not Shasha. As for Shasha, I don’t know either. If there’s nothing else, you can leave. This is my territory now. Don’t worry, you won’t die here.”
After speaking, Qiu Chi called for Hall to come in and see the guests out.
It was useless even if they didn’t want to leave; Hall forcibly escorted them out.
Before they left, Qiu Chi had them relay a message to Boyis: “Tell him not to waste his energy. This castle is mine for the next few months.”
As for whether the castle would be returned to Boyis after a few months?
It seemed unnecessary. After all, he would probably be dead by then. If not dead, then in a permanent slumber, and the vampire throne would be given away.
When Boyis heard the message from the Church, he didn’t know whether to be angry or relieved.
A few months was nothing to him, but now the Church knew that his territory had been occupied by Qiu Chi.
“If you dare to speak of what happened today, don’t blame me for tearing up the contract.”
Facing Boyis, the Church members could only swallow their anger. “We will act as if today never happened.”
A few months passed quickly.
This was true for the vampires, and it was true for Qiu Chi as well.
No matter how bloody the conflict between the werewolves and vampires outside became, it couldn’t disturb Qiu Chi’s leisurely life in the castle.
Time flew by, and Qiu Chi finally emerged from the castle.
The outside world was much the same as it had been a few months ago, except that the battles between werewolves and vampires had grown more frequent.
The moment Qiu Chi stepped out of the castle, Boyis appeared. He looked at her without a word.
Qiu Chi, however, spoke first. “Spread the word to the other vampires. Tell them there will be a banquet at the castle in two days, and they should all attend.”
“Will you return the castle to me after the banquet?”
Qiu Chi glanced at him with a smile and nodded. “Yes, I’ll return it to you after the banquet. You can enter the castle now, too.”
Boyis didn’t know what Qiu Chi was planning, but perhaps because she had beaten him to within an inch of his life without killing him, he felt rather fearless. He was certain that no matter what she did, she wouldn’t kill him. So, he obediently did as she asked.
Two nights later, the banquet was officially held in the castle. It was also the night of the full moon.
Qiu Chi saw some familiar faces from a few months ago.
For instance, Serena, and for instance, Nate.
Inside the castle, Qiu Chi sat in the main seat, with Hall standing beside her, looking as if she were his true master.
Boyis, on the other hand, was seated in a subordinate position below Qiu Chi.
Serena’s fists were clenched tightly. She desperately wanted to slam the table and rise to her feet to protest on Boyis’s behalf, just like at the last banquet, but she couldn’t.
She couldn’t defeat this woman. She might even die at her hands.
The vampires below wore varied expressions, none of them particularly pleasant.
Nate was not among them.
He was thrilled.
After everyone had arrived and taken their seats, he immediately stood up, walked forward, and greeted Qiu Chi with a smile. “We meet again.”
Qiu Chi nodded. “Mm. Rest assured, I am a person of my word. I will certainly do what I promised you.”
Nate’s lips curled into a smile. He walked forward and stood behind Qiu Chi, just like Hall, with no intention of returning to his seat.
Nate’s action finally made Serena, who had been struggling to contain herself, lose her composure.
“Nate, do you know what you’re doing? Have you forgotten that you’re a vampire?”
Nate looked at Serena, the joyful smile never leaving his face. “Miss Serena, of course I know what I’m doing. And I know just how right this decision is.”
Boyis’s expression was also very grim by now. He looked at Hall, then at Nate, and said in a low voice, “Are you planning to betray me?”
Hall lowered his eyes. “The master of the castle is my master.”
Nate shook his head. “No. I was never loyal to you in the first place, so how can this be called a betrayal?”
