Chapter 263: Cannibal Theater (2)
While Ji Ning and Song Weiyang were still wondering whether the Replicator was more important or the Mimic was more important, Shen Yu had already stepped forward to take on the role of the Replicator.
He didn't even look back at them, just followed the NPC and left.
Perhaps out of respect and trust for Shen Yu, Ji Ning thought he must have felt the Replicator was more crucial and thus took it on voluntarily.
After this realization, she felt a little dejected and regretful.
It wasn't convenient to talk, so Song Weiyang pressed his thumb, index finger, and middle finger together to show Ji Ning, then held her hand to comfort her.
Ji Ning understood his meaning. He was trying to say that the three of them were a unit, so she shouldn't worry.
Song Weiyang was right. Completing the mission as a three-person team required all three of them to contribute and share the risk, so no matter how the roles were assigned, it was the same.
The two waited quietly outside for Shen Yu to come out.
The room remained perfectly silent, the process lasting about twenty-plus minutes, until there was finally some movement: the Hyena Folk and Shen Yu were walking out.
Shen Yu was naturally deep and taciturn; after coming out of the room, his expression was not relaxed, which made Ji Ning and Song Weiyang involuntarily tense up as well.
The three were led by the Hyena Folk to a room with the number 1 plaque on the door.
The place was cold and dim everywhere, and the space was vast. Just walking outside, they had no idea what the room would be like inside.
After bringing them there, the Hyena Folk did not open the door, only leaving the words "Be on time for the performance tomorrow evening at eight." before departing.
Shen Yu turned the knob on door number 1, turned on the light, and walked inside. Ji Ning and Song Weiyang followed closely behind.
Unexpectedly, it turned out to be a rather modern practice room.
Upon entering, the left and right walls were covered with mirrors, and facing the door was a row of barres set at waist height. Near the wall by the door were clothing racks and cabinets, displaying all sorts of exotic and beautiful costumes and props. There was also a large antique clock with a cuckoo bird.
In each of the four ceiling corners of the practice room, a surveillance camera was installed. The cameras' green lights were on, indicating that Ji Ning and the others were under surveillance with no blind spots.
After taking in the room's setup, Ji Ning and Song Weiyang both turned their gazes to Shen Yu, eagerly waiting for him to speak.
The two of them, the girl pretty and the boy handsome, standing together exuded a vibrant youthfulness, as perfectly matched as a golden couple.
Compared to them, Shen Yu felt that his thirty-one years were as decayed and stale as wood, and utterly dull.
He quietly opened his mouth and explained the rules to them: "This is a competition where you follow a provided template, go on stage to recreate the content by performing a situational drama, and advance through audience voting. There are four teams total, competing three times, with only one team left in the end."
Ji Ning and Song Weiyang exchanged a glance. Based on the roles just assigned, they pieced together the ins and outs.
She confirmed with Shen Yu: "The Replicator's job is to view the template and teach the Mimic to perform the template's content, and then the Mimic goes on stage to do the performance, right?"
"Right." Shen Yu nodded.
The three fell silent. It was something that sounded simple but was actually quite difficult.
The Replicator who viewed the template had to "replicate" all the content, which required powerful memory and comprehension skills.
And the pressure on the Mimic was no less than on the Replicator, because the result of these two roles would be directly presented to the audience. The mimicry had to be precise, expressive, and without errors or omissions in lines and movements.
"Then... what was the content of the template?" Ji Ning let out a soft breath, ready to hear an answer that would sink her heart once more.
Shen Yu, answering this question, looked very grim and said with difficulty: "It's a story of a male bear monster raping and imprisoning a human girl. The movements are relatively complex, and the lines aren't pleasant. You need to be prepared mentally."
Even though she had mentally prepared, Ji Ning couldn't help but gasp.
Did this mean Shen Yu had to teach Song Weiyang to dress as a male bear monster and act out the process of raping and imprisoning her? The more she heard, the more outrageous it sounded; the more she thought about it, the crazier it seemed.
