Erotic Survival Game - Chapter 335
Chapter 335: Deathtrap Hospital (8)
The elevator took only a single breath to descend from the seventh floor to the sixth.
Ji Ning's heart leaped into her throat. Her finger hovered over the "Close Door" button, her eyes wide and unblinking as she stared at the slowly opening elevator doors. Only after confirming the terrifying, uncanny mask wasn't behind them did she exhale, then together with Jiang Ting and Qin Yanshu, she tiptoed quickly toward the stairs to head up.
The gamble had paid off. Right now, the killer should still be on the stairs heading down, unaware the elevator had stopped midway at the sixth floor.
And because they had also pressed the button for the third floor earlier, the elevator would continue its descent.
After the three reached the seventh floor, Ji Ning didn't keep going up. She stepped out of the elevator lobby, walked a couple of paces, and turned into a corner with a view of the elevator.
Though still some distance away, she could see the elevator—clearly headed for the third floor—had stopped on the fifth.
She looked back at Jiang Ting and Qin Yanshu. The tension that had gripped her features for so long finally relaxed, and she felt grateful their choice had been correct.
Ji Ning herself had an extra life. Though she didn't know what would happen if the Chainsaw Killer sawed into her, the two of them only had one life each. No matter how good their skills were, going up against a chainsaw was like throwing eggs at a rock.
But the relief didn't last long. At the center of her gaze, the slightly eased expressions on Jiang Ting and Qin Yanshu's faces climbed back into alarm.
Ji Ning's heart clenched. She whipped her head back toward the elevator and saw an upward arrow on the display. The number 5 had changed to a 6.
The Chainsaw Killer had taken the elevator up!
It was truly one crisis after another, not a single moment of respite. Ji Ning hurried back to the men. The three of them needed to find a place to hide, fast.
But where to hide became the major problem. The killer was about to arrive. If they chose a spot too far away and didn't hide well, they'd be discovered before they even got there.
The closest option right now was the stairwell. Ji Ning made a snap decision. "Quietly. Let's take the stairs down."
Because right now, the killer definitely knew they had exited the elevator midway at the sixth floor and headed in the opposite direction—up. If he didn't hear any sounds, the killer would search the higher floors first.
Ji Ning's suggestion made sense. There was no time to lose. The group returned to the stairwell and headed down.
This time, they didn't close the door, leaving the stairwell as it was to avoid revealing any changes that might give away their movements.
To avoid making noise, they had to lighten their steps. Lighter steps meant slower speed.
Ji Ning walked with her heart pounding in terror, ears pricked for any sound.
She could clearly hear the killer step out of the seventh-floor elevator, laughing like a lunatic as he kicked doors open in every direction, searching for them.
She was instantly, immensely grateful they hadn't chosen to hide.
To avoid being seen through the gaps in the stairwell above, the three spread out, front and back, moving down along the wall.
They hadn't made a single sound. The sixth, seventh, and eighth floors could all have been their hiding places. But this Chainsaw Killer seemed to have a dog's nose that could sniff out their scent. Before long, he abandoned his search and chased them to the stairwell.
The stairwell was cavernous. His hair-raising laughter echoed, and after a cackling, creaking laugh, he rasped out a low roar: "So you're in here!" Then he broke into a run, footsteps thundering down the stairs.
Ji Ning felt the entire stairwell shaking as if in an earthquake.
Now that they'd been discovered, there was no point hiding their noise. Ji Ning and the two men began sprinting for their lives again.
As they ran past the landing between the fifth and fourth floors, a figure suddenly appeared beside the stairwell door. Backlit, his face was unreadable, but Ji Ning recognized him instantly by his silhouette alone: Shen Yu.
"This way, follow me!" Shen Yu reached out, took Ji Ning from Jiang Ting's grasp, and pulled her out of the stairwell, turning left and running toward the end of the corridor.
Ji Ning spotted the large ICU symbol. Her tightly wound heart eased for a brief moment.
The ICU entrance was a heavy, airtight door. Impact-resistant and reinforced, it was far harder to breach than the hospital's other doors.
If they could hide inside the ICU and seal the killer out, the three of them could escape the danger of being caught.
He ran far too fast, and he seemed to possess some kind of uncanny tracking radar. Once targeted, hiding was utterly useless.
Ji Ning guessed that Shen Yu must have known they were being chased, specifically found this location to confirm their position, then evaded the killer to come get them.
The four quickly ran into the space behind the ICU's airtight door. Shen Yu was the first to press the door-close request button.
With a soft hiss of released air, the pale blue door slid to the right, slowly closing. Though it was a bit slow, and the killer was closing in fast, a visual estimate confirmed it would definitely shut in time before he reached them.
What they hadn't expected, however, was for the killer—chainsaw in one hand—to hurl a glove through the doorway with his other.
The airtight door had an automatic anti-pinch function. The moment any object was detected by the sensor, the door would emergency-open, then close again.
The door, just about to shut, opened once more because of that glove thrown at the four people's feet…
