Seductive Beauty - Chapter 88

Chapter 88

Dong Yuluo felt that her recent state of mind was somewhat complicated, and within that complexity, there was also a touch of quiet breakdown. The reason for it all stemmed from a single person: her superior, Gu Sijiu. When she first joined the military's Logistics Department, Dong Yuluo hadn't harbored any special ulterior motives. She had simply wanted to thank Gu Sijiu for saving her family, and by the way, to get closer to her idol. But after spending these days together, Dong Yuluo discovered that her feelings for Gu Sijiu were growing stranger and stranger.

She loved walking alongside Major General Gu. Even just reporting on work to her would fill Dong Yuluo with an inexplicable joy. And because she was a brand new recruit, she could keep closing the distance with Gu Sijiu under the guise of being new. When she did so, happiness was one part of it, but once she calmed down, she couldn't help but feel a sense of loss.

Major General Gu was an exceptional Alpha. Unfortunately, she already had a fiancee, and that fiancee was also so wonderful. Dong Yuluo had no desire, nor the courage, to intrude on the relationship between them. Yet the person she admired and liked was right in front of her, making it impossible to control her actions, her behavior, and even her own heart.

"Tonight should work, but I can't stay too late," Gu Sijiu said upon hearing Dong Yuluo's words. She set down the document in her hands and replied softly. Because Gu Sijiu's battle achievements from the last time hadn't yet been celebrated, and since the military wasn't too busy lately, tonight had been chosen. Gu Sijiu had sent a message to Song Jinzhi beforehand and saw Song Jinzhi's reply telling her to drink less. A sweet warmth bubbled up in Gu Sijiu's heart. She completely failed to notice that Dong Yuluo was still watching her from the side.

"All right, let's go." Gu Sijiu put away her communicator and followed the group of soldiers to the evening's hotel. The colonel had been exceptionally generous this time, booking the entire five-star hotel outright: enough to let the whole military base eat and drink their fill. Shan Ni'er and Bai Wei followed behind Gu Sijiu, both of whom had also rendered great service during the Lingxi Mall incident. Bai Wei in particular had sustained injuries no less serious than Gu Sijiu's back then. To reward them, the colonel had specially given Gu Sijiu two medals, for her to personally pin on their chests.

"Major General, thank you," Bai Wei said softly as she watched Gu Sijiu walk up to her. Hearing this, Gu Sijiu smiled casually and lifted her head to appraise her.

"It's nothing. This is the honor you deserve. I only hope that next time you will act more cautiously and not push yourself too hard." Gu Sijiu offered some words of comfort, but Bai Wei felt there was more to her words than met the eye. Before she could dwell on it further, Gu Sijiu had already blended into the crowd and begun chatting with the soldiers who came to offer toasts.

When Gu Sijiu contacted her, Song Jinzhi was just preparing to drive home. She rarely got to leave on time and had been thinking she could go with Gu Sijiu to a nearby supermarket for a stroll. Who would have guessed that the other would tell her she had to attend a victory banquet that evening, which naturally dashed Song Jinzhi's hopes. She sat listlessly on the sofa, only then realizing that without Gu Sijiu, the house had become so boring and quiet.

Song Jinzhi had no appetite to order a meal and made do with just two bottles of nutrient supplements. After that, she started checking the time every ten minutes. 7 PM, Gu Sijiu still wasn't back. 8 PM, still no message saying she was on her way. When the time crept toward 9 PM, Song Jinzhi finally couldn't hold back and opened her communicator, dialing Gu Sijiu. The communicator glowed for a long time before it was answered, by someone else.

"Hello, are you looking for Major General Gu?" Dong Yuluo asked, eyeing the contact note labeled "Wooden Face."

She had no idea who this person was to Gu Sijiu, but since the communicator kept flashing and lighting up repeatedly, she picked it up for her.

"I'm A Jiu's fiancee, Song Jinzhi. Where is she?" Song Jinzhi felt the other's voice was somewhat familiar, but she couldn't place who it was. No matter who it was, however, introducing herself was necessary. Sensing that the person on the other end fell silent for a moment, Song Jinzhi frowned slightly and stood up with a trace of worry.

"So it's Young Mistress Song. The Major General is drunk. I was just about to send her home. You..."

"Give me the address. I'll go pick her up." Song Jinzhi didn't know what had come over her, but the moment she heard that Gu Sijiu was drunk, she simply couldn't calm her heart. She knew all too well that when that person got drunk, she would latch onto anyone she saw and hug them, then hold them as she slept for a long time. Song Jinzhi could not tolerate such a thing happening. The only person Gu Sijiu was allowed to hug was her alone.

With that possessive thought, after getting the address, Song Jinzhi sped to the hotel in her car. Plenty of people in the military knew Song Jinzhi. Before, the matter of Gu Sijiu's physical disability had blown up so that everyone knew, and the image of Song Jinzhi defending Gu Sijiu had even been broadcast live. After that, the story of Song Jinzhi "protecting her wife" spread throughout the entire interstellar network. No one had ever seen an Omega display such a dominant side, and many Omegas who watched the scene took Song Jinzhi as a model Omega. It even sparked a highly popular trend at the time, with Omegas posing while holding their Alphas in their arms, symbolizing ABO equality and mutual affection.

When Song Jinzhi arrived at the hotel, many soldiers whooped and cheered. Song Jinzhi wore a gentle smile on her face, but inwardly she couldn't help holding her breath. There were simply too many Alphas here. All kinds of complicated pheromones swirled around her nose, making Song Jinzhi feel thoroughly disgusted. This was probably the common failing of Alphas, especially those in the military, who possessed even less self awareness. Her own A Jiu, though, was different.

Thinking this, Song Jinzhi grew impatient to see Gu Sijiu. She walked into the inner hall and spotted Gu Sijiu from far away, along with the somewhat familiar person beside her. Gu Sijiu was leaning groggily on that person's shoulder. The female Beta's face was flushed, and her adoration for Gu Sijiu practically overflowed from her eyes.

Under normal circumstances, Dong Yuluo would not have dared to do this. But now, with everyone drunk and no one paying attention, she naturally let Gu Sijiu lean on her. Before Dong Yuluo could fully indulge in her infatuation, however, she quickly felt a sharp gaze land on her. She looked up blankly, only to see Song Jinzhi striding toward her with a murderous aura.

Dong Yuluo wasn't exaggerating. She truly felt that the Song Jinzhi who had seemed gentle and elegant at their last meeting was now radiating a killing intent from head to toe. If she weren't a soldier herself, she might well have been scared so weak in the knees by Song Jinzhi's bearing that she'd collapse.

"Young... Young Mistress Song." Dong Yuluo's face went pale. The next moment, Gu Sijiu beside her, as though sensing Song Jinzhi's arrival, actually stood up and curled herself into Song Jinzhi's embrace like a small pet.

"Jinzhi, you came to pick me up. You're so good to me." Gu Sijiu had drunk quite a lot, but she could still discern Song Jinzhi's voice and pheromones. Knowing that Song Jinzhi had come to fetch her, Gu Sijiu couldn't have been happier. She smiled faintly. And since she wasn't as tall as Song Jinzhi to begin with, the way she pressed close like a small bird seeking shelter instantly drew sidelong glances from many in the military.

Aware that this wasn't quite appropriate, Song Jinzhi hurriedly pulled Gu Sijiu's hand and placed it around her own waist, making it look as if Gu Sijiu was the one holding her, not the other way around with her supporting Gu Sijiu.

"Honestly, you can barely hold your liquor and yet you drink so much. Let me take you home." Song Jinzhi smiled tenderly, the very picture of a virtuous wife and good mother, as if the person who had been about to kill someone moments ago wasn't her at all. Watching this abrupt change of face up close, Dong Yuluo stared dumbly at Song Jinzhi, then shifted her gaze to Gu Sijiu.

In her drunken state, Gu Sijiu had become extremely clingy. Her face was flushed, and her thin lips would purse sternly for a moment, then break into a silly grin a moment later. Dong Yuluo understood that she shouldn't keep watching, but... Gu Sijiu was too dazzling a person. How could someone who liked her ever manage to ignore her?

"Miss Dong, thank you for looking after A Jiu. But there are some things I have to say to you. A Jiu rarely acts spoiled, but she only does it with me."

Song Jinzhi didn't bluntly say that she wanted Dong Yuluo to stay away from Gu Sijiu, but she believed the young woman should understand. She saw the girl stare blankly at her, then look at Gu Sijiu with reddening eyes before nodding and leaving. Song Jinzhi knew that her words were somewhat cruel for an 18-year-old girl. Yet love had always been selfish.

Song Jinzhi brought Gu Sijiu home, helped her to the bedroom, changed her clothes, and wiped her body clean. But she did not dress her again; instead, she left her lying completely naked on the bed. She found a high strength hangover remedy and fed it into Gu Sijiu's mouth. Then she went downstairs, rummaged out a length of rope, and bound Gu Sijiu's hands to the headboard, sitting quietly as she waited for the person to wake up.

The hangover remedy worked very quickly. Not long after, Gu Sijiu was roused by the cool breeze in the room. She opened her eyes and was about to rub her head when she found her hands immobilized. Startled, she then saw Song Jinzhi standing by the bed, fully and neatly dressed, while she herself... was wearing nothing at all.
