Chapter 144
Qiu Chi stopped and looked at Nate, who had followed her. Her voice was a little cold. “Do you have a death wish?”
Nate said, “If you have nowhere to go, you can stay at my manor.”
“Not necessary. Don’t bother me until the appointed time.”
Qiu Chi still planned to live in Boyis’s castle.
Did he really think a single beating was the end of it? What a beautiful thought.
She was going to flaunt herself in front of him every day. Whenever she was displeased, she’d give him a beating. Seeing him furious but completely unable to do anything about it made her happy.
Qiu Chi returned to the castle, while the manor where the banquet was held descended into chaos.
Just as Serena lunged forward, Boyis coldly rebuffed her. “Get lost!”
He didn’t know why Qiu Chi had suddenly gone mad and attacked him, but right now, he was annoyed with everyone he saw.
Although his injuries were already healing rapidly, he felt it wasn’t fast enough.
He grabbed a person hiding nearby and bit directly into their neck.
The vampires present were dead silent, though some people screamed in terror at Boyis’s actions.
Their final fate was, naturally, to be dealt with by the vampires.
Nate, who had secretly followed Qiu Chi and then secretly returned, stood at the back. Not far from him, other vampires were gloating over Boyis’s misfortune.
Boyis finished off three people in a row before his body was fully restored.
He swept a cold gaze over the vampires present. “If anyone dares to discuss today’s events in private, they will die!”
With that, he vanished.
Boyis returned to the castle.
When he saw Qiu Chi there, he couldn’t stop himself from losing his composure. “Why are you here? How dare you…” appear here again.
Qiu Chi took a sip of tea, her tone light. “What? Have you forgotten you were the one who invited me? Don’t you know the saying, ‘it’s easier to invite a god than to send one away’?”
After speaking, Qiu Chi’s gaze swept over Boyis. “You recovered quite quickly.”
Boyis clenched his fists, suppressing the violent rage about to erupt from his heart. His voice was practically squeezed through gritted teeth. “Why… did you have to do that in front of so many people…”
“Why did I hit you in front of so many people? You have only yourself to blame. It’s the consequence of your meddling.”
Qiu Chi’s voice was calm, but Boyis found it baffling. He frowned and said, “When did I meddle?”
“You don’t need to know when you meddled. You just need to know that you deserved the beating.”
Boyis clenched his fists, but in the end, he could only turn and leave.
After the incident of being beaten in public, Boyis finally dropped his pretense around Qiu Chi.
Every time he saw her, his face was grim, as if she had murdered his entire family.
The number of people in the castle also increased, all of them sent by other nobles to curry favor with Boyis.
Of course, these were newly found people, not the ones who had witnessed Boyis’s beating that day.
Whether they respected Boyis or not, they didn’t want to completely sever ties with him just yet.
Naturally, some vampires once again set their sights on Qiu Chi.
This time, it wasn’t because her blood was too delicious, but because her martial prowess was enough to thrash Boyis. If she could make Boyis step down and help them become the Vampire King, wouldn’t that be an easy task?
But when they found out where Qiu Chi was staying, their expressions grew complicated.
She beat the castle’s owner to that state, so how could she have the nerve to keep living there?
And Boyis, too. Didn’t he feel repulsed by the person who had violently beaten him?
Oh, right. It was useless even if Boyis felt repulsed, because he couldn’t defeat her.
The vampires who wanted to win over Qiu Chi temporarily abandoned the idea.
Meanwhile, in the castle, the people sent to be Boyis’s food were not very well-behaved.
Perhaps because Boyis’s attitude toward Qiu Chi was poor, yet Qiu Chi received the best food and lodging, they found her quite displeasing to the eye.
When the first troublemaker came to her, Qiu Chi didn’t waste words. She simply dragged Boyis out and beat him up in front of them.
She was in no mood to play mind games with them. As the master of the castle, he should be the one to properly discipline these people.
“Control them. If there’s a next time, I don’t mind dragging you into a pile of vampires for another beating.”
After saying her piece, Qiu Chi clapped her hands and went to sunbathe.
She left Boyis staring grimly at the trembling group before him. “Why did you have to provoke her? Isn’t being alive good enough?”
The next day, Qiu Chi discovered that the people in the castle had been replaced by a new batch.
Qiu Chi clicked her tongue and remarked, “Your king is quite concerned with his pride, isn’t he?”
Hall stood silently to the side.
This new batch of people was much more honest.
However, among them was someone from the Church.
As Qiu Chi was drinking tea, eating snacks, and sunbathing, someone approached, slipped her a note, and then quickly departed.
Qiu Chi opened the note and read: Shasha, we received news from the werewolves that you can defeat Boyis. What is going on? Also, why are you in the vampires’ lair? Are you alright? If you can truly defeat Boyis, for the sake of humanity, you must kill him. Of course, in all things, your safety is the top priority.
After reading it, Qiu Chi calmly turned the note to dust and continued about her business as if she hadn’t seen its contents.
The Church was indeed good for ordinary people; without them, humans wouldn’t be able to live so peacefully.
But for Shasha, it was a different story.
Shasha was grateful to the Church for raising her. Even knowing that her entire life since birth had been a setup, she was willing to work for them.
But Qiu Chi was not.
Although Boyis would certainly meet a bad end, she still needed to promote another vampire to take his place.
Qiu Chi’s lack of response to the note made the Church extremely anxious, and they began to send her notes continuously.
Unfortunately, Qiu Chi acted as if she never saw them.
She had read the first one, but she couldn’t be bothered to even look at the subsequent ones, ignoring them completely.
The Church’s actions were quite bold. Perhaps because the information came from the werewolves, they sent the notes with what could be called reckless abandon.
As the master of the castle, Boyis wasn’t that useless.
Those notes eventually fell into his hands.
After reading them, he stared with a grim face at Qiu Chi, who was sitting leisurely in the courtyard, his thoughts unreadable.
He watched for a long while, right until Qiu Chi opened her mouth to warn him, “Keep staring and I’ll gouge your eyes out.”
Boyis stood up and walked downstairs.
He stood in the shadows, avoiding the direct sunlight. “Are you from the Church?”
Qiu Chi replied, “What if I am? What if I’m not?”
Boyis was silent for a moment before speaking again. “The Church wants me dead. Since you’re one of them, why don’t you follow their orders and kill me? You have the ability, don’t you?”
Qiu Chi took a sip of tea and asked in return, “So? What are you trying to say?”
“Do you like me?”
Qiu Chi spat out a mouthful of tea.
